  • Went there two summers ago. Was quite sceptical before we went but I have to say we really enjoyed it. There is a railway line runs right through the town parallel to the beach and was quite close to our hotel however it did not cause us any concern. Lovely beach and quite nice on a night to walk along the main pedestrian area where there are hundreds of small stalls selling local goods, all lit up, looks very nice. I would definately go back.
  • I would agree with previous post. Its much nicer than calalla and the train line runs to Barcelona which is a fantastic city to visit

I also went here a couple of years ago but not in school holidays. Found the hotel on Alpha rooms for about £300 for 2 adults and 2 children so wasnt expecting much, although I did check the online reviews before hand. I was pleasantly suprised. We upgraded when we got there to half board for about £150 for all four of us.

Santa Suzanna was quite nice. Not too quiet, but not like a club 18-30. We kept walking up the promenade and got to the noisier tackier bits where the entertainment spilled out into the gardens of the hotels.

    Really enjoyed our cheap week.
Matched betting proceeds so far: £505.00

Absolutely no relevance to your post but Santa Susanna was my first ever foreign holiday in about 1991!

Santa Susanna and Malgrat Del Mar are joined onto each other. Santa Susanna is marginally posher and quieter than Malgrat. Malgrat has some typical British pubs, you know, quiz, bingo and play your cards right type entertainment plus a couple of discos as well as pavement cafes.
Santa Susana is imo more typicaly spanish.
Most of the resort is on the other side of the railway from the beach. The beach is reached via underpasses.
Barcelona is an hour away by train.

everything was deep fried. we stayed in a dredfull hotel, boozy britts puffing like troopers around their children in the lounge areas.
The prom and beach were quit niuce though.
It was alright as a bargain basement hol, we went for a week to do nothing but relax before our daughter was born. If youwant culture..well we couldn't find much!

I can remember going into the old town and being fascinated with a shop that sold all sorts of nasties such as crossbows, swords and knuckledusters! There was also shop/cafe virtually opposite it that sold wonderful cakes.

Having just looked up the hotel we stayed in i'm amazed that is rated as number 3 out of 19 in the area.

I stayed in Malgrat last July. Lovely resort, did not like the beach though it was grit not sand. My daughter hated it as it was so rough and got so hot. The train line runs right along the beach and there are subways to get across the railway line. The train is a really cheap way to travel to some of the other resorts.

Really good market in Santa Suzanna but check the prices, some stalls sell items cheaper than others and they are open to a bit of haggling.

Lots of pick pockets though so be careful even with your watch (had mine pinched when this handsome, charming man tried to sell me flowers - kept holding my wrist, quite flattering but a thief all the same).
