Thanks for that - very interesting reading. That said having been bitten before with the 5 year fixed @5.39% we will be quite happy with a rate of 2.79 and probably just continue with this.
  • Just found this latest info......

    http://uk.finance.yahoo.com/news/best-mortgages-2013-141403750.html

From reading it, it sounds as though there could be some more good deals coming through shortly though..:j:j
  • Yorkshire Building Society now offering 1.99% fixed rate for 2 years with a product fee of £995....getting better !!!

  • I e-mailed our current lender (the Barnsley Building Society) yesterday, and they have just got back to me saying the best deal they can offer me is a 2-year fixed term mortgage at 3.69% ......:sad: !!!

    Time for a change methinks.....
  • Had a phone call earlier from Yorks Bank rep. saying that they are ditching their £999 fees on the 2.79% 2-year fixed rate, as of next week, and more than likely on other current deals as well ...definitely getting better..:j:j

There are plenty of sub-1.99% fixed rate deals with less than £1000 set up fee assuming you have at least 30% equity in the property. That's what I'd be opting for - and I think Santander are one of them actually !
  • The lowest rate I can find from Santander is 2.24%.....what other lenders are doing 1.99% or similar please ???
  • Been to see the mortgage advisor at the Yorkshire Bank this morning, as they have now scrapped their £999 set-up fees.
They are now offering a 2-year fix at 2.59%, 3-year fix at 2.89% or 5-year fix at 3.19%, so if you are not already an existing customer paying £1000 per month into an account, then all you have to do is set up a standing order of £1000 per month to cover your mortgage payments, and you then qualify for the above.
Sounds pretty good to me, what are peoples thoughts on this ??

Co-op Bank has also removed the arrangement fee on the five year fix at 2.79% today.
