    Hi
I understand what you mean but things can't be literally translated in German,. I would just write to them in English - in my experience most will speak English. Good luck! Danger of writing in German is that you are likely to get a massive long reply which needs translating! Have fun!

Ok... this should do: (they might think you have a bavarian "lilt" to your grammar though!! (similar to sounding like you are from Somerset!! As that's where I lived in Germany)

    Guten Tag,
Darf Ich frage, würden Sie dieses nach Großbritannien schicken? Was diese koste wurde?

Es tüt mir leid aber Ich kann nicht Deutsch sprechen.
Können Sie auf englisch zurück schreiben?
    Vielen dank

    Translates as:
Good day (the usual German phrase)
May I ask if you would send this to Great Britain. How much would this cost? I'm sorry but I do not speak German. Can you write back in English?
Many thanks (more formal way in German)

Post a reply if in german and I can translate for you.

If you know what your doing I'd have a bit of translation work for you later in the month if you fancy it bluep.
Not much - a couple of A4 pages of text. Just somewhat complicated questions I ask Germans type of stuff they'd never understand unless they had word perfect english.
Sought you out via paypal. Let me know via PM if your interested.

I once got babel fish to translate “I apologise for my poor German”,

it came back as the german for “I’m sorry for the destitute germans”
