Windows Firewall Prob...

Hi Techs,

Just a quick question.

My windows firewall keeps switching itself off.

why does that happen?

    Thinking it might be the obvious.. it could be that your Security Center Service has stopped. To fix the problem click Start > Run, type services.msc and press [Return]. Scroll down the list of Services to Security Center and double-click it. Change its Startup type to Automatic and click the Start button followed by OK. Close the Services console and you should have access to the Windows Security Center again.

    if this does not cure the prob let me know.

    would'nt rely on windows Firewall anyway ??

    would get a decent free one like Kerio or comodo

    Thanks Kev..... done as you stated.... it was already on auto.

    The prob is that when i close the comp doen and then restart it .... I find that the firewall has switched itself off????????

    Do you have any other firewall installed? Norton / McAfee etc will usually switch off the Windows firewall when they are installed

    norton will switch the windows firewall off to avoid conflicts between the 2 firewalls
