I should take my own advice

I have just risked using Collect plus again after their poor service last year nearly cost me a great deal of money.

The third parcel is now lost, even Collect plus don't know where it is as nothing has updated since it reached my local depot a week ago. They can't confirm it is still there nor can they suggest where it might be.

My buyer expected the 3-5 day delivery that the site promised and now demands a full refund.

So I saved a couple of pounds by using Collect Plus over Royal Mail and stand to lose nearly £30 by refunding . Yup, stupid Soolin should follow her own advice and not touch this service with a bargepole.

Annoyingly right at the last moment I was in two minds as to whether to pay extra and send it Royal mail standard parcels as I already had a lot to go that day, and decided to risk Collect plus instead. All my standard parcels sent on that same day hae had feedback left for them.

  • Don't beat yourself up about it. Stuff happens. Just don't use them again.

    Hugs. :)

I must say as well that ebay are not helping. The initial estimate for dleivery times showed Collect Plus to be 4-7 working days, but when I printed the postage they cut that to 3-5 working days.

Collect plus disagree with that estimate and say that delivery is not guaranteed that quickly and a week is not within their outer delivery times so it is not even late yet and I should wait a few more days as a 10 day delivery would be more realistic and well within their time frames allowing for non working days (but that doesn't agree with their web site).

Buyer still insist they want a full refund as item is now 'late' and they don;t want it if they can't have it for the weekend.

I had similar problems with Yodel last year. I received an email from the company I booked them through (who were as bad, if not worse in resolving problems). They asked me if I had forgotten about them and offering me an incentive to use them again.

I was tempted to reply that precisely because I hadn't forgotten about them I wouldn't use them again. The worst parcel was lost in early November and a claim paid out on in late February.

As far as I can tell they have a 90-95% success record. They work for a lot of big companies and the smaller sellers get pushed to the back of any queue. My driver last year told me that he had to prioritise Amazon parcels. If you look at Amazon message boards they weren't doing too well with them.

It's not always affordable but the bigger couriers are best to stick to this time of the year, Parcelforce, UPS, FedEx, DPD all do quite well (the latter I've only received from, but they do have faultless delivery).

Soolin- I have had an ongonig battle with Collect + over two items that didnt arrive from four items sent( baby clothes!) After a frustrating time and being refused to speak to a manager and claim forms being lost etc, I contacted the contact in the previous post#4 and today a Mr Philip Marsh has contacted me from the executives office to say they are looking into my complaint. So maybe try emailing them on that email. I got action within 12 hours. Hope it goes well.
  • Even RM parcels have their off days, I'm waiting to receive back a parcel they did not deliver, as its a plant it won't be in good nick even if it does turn up.

It doesn't always work but I've found Twitter to be a good place to complain to companies, they often give you a direct number or email that someone high up deals with.

I was a bit surprised a while ago to receive a call from the CEO of a pretty large company as a result of a complaint I made on Twitter.
