You say it isn't your fault - but I would argue it is.
Your DD bounced for lack of funds - how is that not your fault???0 -

Yes, but the OP then paid that instalment and the rest of the payments that were due, so at the point the policy was cancelled no money was owing.0 -

How is it my fault? The dd bounced so I rang up and paid it over the phone, I also paid my next instalment at same time which was my final payment and the £20 fine for the dd bouncing. They even said there was a system error which meant the payment wasn't showing on my account but they could see I HAD paid. When I got the cancellation letter I rang and was told it was sorted and my insurance DEFINATELY WOULD NOT be cancelled. So as far as I'm concerned I did everything I could and happily went along thinking it was all sorted now.0 -
I was thinking the same as braveheart but I do think the OP has a point (couldn't do much more to rectify the situation). Try and get further up the tree and see if you can speak to someone who doesn't just work off a script.
The thing is you are going to have to look elswhere for insurance in the meantime as this will probably not be sorted very quickly.0
