Virgin or BT?

Options
Hi all,

Bit of a dilemma here. Just moving house and Virgin Media can now only provide me with ADSL internet through the phone and no TV.
Whilst that saves me about £15/month, we both absolutely love watching TV and recording Time Team (i know, i know, boring people!).

So i checked out BT and they can offer their own fiber-optic service, Infinity, for the same price I am currently paying for virgin media phone, tv, and internet. They offer BT Vision+ which is virtually the same as Virgin, and the same telephone package.

Not having been with BT in the past, I don't know what they are like as a company. Should I risk it with BT, or should I stick with what I know and suffer the lack of TV and broadband speed?

What is their customer service like? Any horror stories that I am likely to encounter?

Thanks in advance

Martin

VM National is a BT service, it's just BT's resold Wholesale product. It's not to be compared to VM cable service.
BT are one of the lowest rated ISP's. Plenty of other companies can offer you FTTC, such as Plusnet-same service via the BT network, but cheaper, and better CS.
BT Vision is not the same as a VM or Sky subscription service, it's just Freeview with some on-demand delivery by broadband.
If you want to record TV then just get a Freeview or Freesat PVR- no subscription required. If you require subscription channels then look at a triple bundle with Sky, assuming that they are LLU on your exchange. Sky Fibre may also be available to you.
Your choice of ISP is determined by what is available on your exchange, so start with an exchange search on www.samknows.com for your available LLU providers.

BT vision is due to change soon and will have a lot more content both on demand and via linear channels.

This is just the latest update. BT vision will be a massive competitor to SKY/Virgin in the coming months. The days of BT Vision being freeview with some vod content are coming to an end.

Another difference being that neither VM not Sky require you to take their broadband just to get the subscription TV service.
