Police broke down my front door - who pays?

  • Final update - door finally fixed (took ages to get insurance confirmation then there were a couple of false starts with the carpenter). £250 excess paid and new locks put in.

So in effect I have a brand spanking new front door and new locks for £250. Could be worse I suppose but that was quite a hassle.

Thanks for all the replies, advice and well-wishes:)

I'm surprised you had to pay the £250.
The police kicked in my door when i was fast asleep in bed, and they paid. I neighbour phoned them just to say they hadn't seen me, only for one day. They came knocking on the door but i never heard so they booted it, that's when i woke up thinking i had a burglar. I had to get the door replaced and send the police the bill. It took months getting my money back.
