There's no control over imported product prices. So inflation of the bad kind will be around for some time.

Given there's no productivity growth in the UK (not GDP but output per head). Little sign of good inflation at the moment.

Often gets overlooked that there are 2 kinds.

Time to ignore those green twonks and fire up a few more coal fired power stations like drax then.

Screwed either way in the short/medium term

The Treasury’s independent Office for Budget Responsibility said last year that the loss of Britain’s AAA credit rating might not have much impact on the public finances.....

The agency also suggested that slowing down the deficit-reduction programme could lead to another downgrade.

“Moody's could also downgrade the UK's government debt rating further in the event of an additional material deterioration in the country's economic prospects or reduced political commitment to fiscal consolidation,” it said.

Good old OBR making some more wooly predictions. At leat Ozzie can blame them if it does have an impact.

In the light of the US action against Standard & Poors it begs the question of confidence in the agencies.

I thought when Blair(?) signed up originally for stupid targets he was blamed for not understanding what he was doing and that he had been hoodwinked.

Here are reaffirming another bonkers target.

I guess we just continue export the dirty stuff to the developing workld and cripple ourselves further with costs to save our 80% of the 2%(?) of what we produce.

It's more the fault of 70 year olds who expect NHS treatment to keep them going far beyond the natural order (say 90 plus as a minimum) and at the same time, expect to receive 800 quid per month in state pension per couple.

But apparently that's not discuss able on here, as its all the yoofs fault, the same yoof that have been left a 1 trillion pound debt by their parents and grandparents. That doesn't include the OAP care they expect when probably the most humane thing they should expect for both their quality of life and the long term well being of the nation is 'the needle'.

As I pointed out just yesterday the average age of death is something lke 77 and 82 so yes a few may make it to say 90 to keep your hyperbolic nonsense going.

800 pound is only payable to a couple as you point out with a minimum of 40 years contributions to the system. By the time you reach mid 70s a good proportion will be widowers/widows subsisting on £105 ish per week.

You will now tell me they didn't pay enough in. Funnily enough the generations before them didn't either. There are of course many that fail to even reach pensionable age have fully contributed at the prescribed rate.

Thought question time was telling last night.

    Cons - Heseltine

Duck out of water with those 2 heavyweights. Showed how afraid Labour are of the economy as an issue.

I saw that. She was just embarrassing. I really hope labour get in at the next election and complete the work they started.
