I have no idea what channel I am watching scart or hm or whatever, I just plug it in!0

I could try to find out I suppose............if I need to.0

Before we get too technical and I get completely lost, do I take it that the suggestion above with a wireless thingy is OK and that I should get a good quality one as it will, in the end, work out cheaper than renting or whatever??
many thanks

This is because I regularly fall asleep in front of the telly and wake up at 3 am freezing cold! I cant get freeview where I live. In any case I want to be able to see cable channels. What is the cheapest way of doing this, do I have to buy something and if so what?:A
I suggest you get Virgin Media to install a 2nd box (around £50) then you can relax in bed and change channels with ease - You do have a TV in your bedroom?0 -

Chickenbrain, the original solution I suggested is still perfect for you - the doubt doesn't apply to your equipment.
Tiexen - OP already stated they didn't want to add an additional box, plus this is charged for monthly, so more costly in the long run.0 -
right, the SCART and HDMI thing, the wire that connects your TV to the virgin box, how big is the plug on the end of this cable?
if its about the width of a pound coin, its HDMI. If its about 1.5 to 2 inches its a SCART. Look and tell us.0 -
Will do, I remain a bit confused as to which is the best way forward. I will look tomorrow and post it up,
Many thanks

I am looking at the Virgin TV anywhere as a starter, thats a really good idea! The downside is that I have to lug my laptop up and downstairs every day when I go to bed, plug it in etc. So I will want to get a TV so I dont have to do that.0

I have looked at the Virgin Tv anywhere but unfortunately it does not have a lot of the programmes I tend to watch..I rarely watch entertainment channels etc. so on balance its back to being able to watch my tv...I have looked at the back, and linking the TV and the cable box is what looks like a belt and two scart plugs, I assume this is what you mean?
Many thanks

When you say a belt do you mean a wide but thin black cable (some can be a a round cable ) ?
