This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning all,

Bitter cold here again today, my poot OH was outside in it all day yesterday, and probably today too. He was so cold by the time he got home.

Good Morning R/Ruby and all who follow,my but its a bit nippy here in Kent this morning No snow as yet but a thick hard frost.
My eldest DD Shelley is coming to visit me this morning and also I am having a home visit from two chaps from my late OHs lodge as well. They are coming to see what the lodge can do in regard to helping me replace my bath for a shower, as climbing in and out of the bath is getting increasingly more difficult as my joints just won't bend like they did.So fingers crossed.
I did lots of baking yesterday and made choc chip cookies and a victoria sponge cake also some melting moments biscuits which my DD Shelley loves.
At some point today I must start wrapping some presents, also have a dig around my craft boxes and make a start on card making.Only a couple more weeks to go It seems that one minute its weeks away then suddenly its only a fortnight to go and the time simply whizzes by.Well i'm off to have a big bowl of porridge (sound like goldilocks :):))to warm my innards up and a good large cup of coffee to jump start my joints
keep warm, drive slowly and mind the black icy bits on the roads
    Cheers chums JackieOxxx

    Morning All

We had a weather warning for snow this morning so I got up early and guess what? It's raining! Hope there's no snow later.

The Mumford & Sons concert last night was fantastic, they sounded exactly the same as on a CD. We were at the back of the standing area (where I could lean against the barrier for their sound equipment!) and we had a really good view anyway but they had a small stage inside the sound area where they played a couple of songs so we were right at the front IYSWIM! It was -4 when we got in so left the heating on, had trouble sleeping though as it was too warm!

Work today and then I really must do some shopping, the cupboards are bare, I also have an A!di voucher to use by today that I got in the paper last week. May have to give my volunteer session at the hospice a miss today as I am still coughing and sneezing - not a good thing to take in there.

Hope you all have a safe and happy day. Take care. XX

I've been giving him breadcrumbs (he doesn't seem to like the seeds that are on the bird table) but I think he needs more so I'll buy him some food when I go shopping.

I've bought most gifts online. I hate shopping usually but december is different, I love wandering about in town with the lights on, music playing, etc. But I haven't got time this year so will go only once. I've booked a day – friday 14th :D I'm hoping to pop out for an hour another day too so I can go by myself. Mr tru gets carried away and wants to visit every shop, I just want to wander about then have a hot chocolate.

    The Coca-Cola lorry
was in Glos last night. Master tru and his girlfriend went to see it. They said they knew the ones on telly are all CGI but you still hope it'll look a little bit fab in real life. It doesn't. And they didn't even get a free bottle of Coke  :rotfl:

Just popped my head out the door, it's -4 and fabulously frosty.

    Morning all,
Bit frosty here. Plans today are to tackle the ironing pile, finish writing xmas cards and make a steak & onion pie. I got the steak out of the freezer y/day then had a phone call from DD2 to say that her and SiL2b would like to take me and DH out for dinner tonight as a thank you for all the help we give them. DGD's will be joining us as I'm their only babysitter. :D
    Off to grab another coffee.
Stay warm and safe and have a good day.

Good Morning Ruby, Jackie & all to follow.

Jackie will keep everything crossed for you.

Cold start here also, haven't really looked outside but can hear the cars going past outside so hopefully the roads are ok. Got to drop DD at the station this morning. DS is back at school but they are opening an hour later.

As will have the house to myself for a while this morning will drag all the Xmas pressies out and make a list of what I have got and what is to get, really don't need much but want it organised by the end of next week. Need to hoover and wash all the downstairs floors as they got very dirty yesterday with everyone coming in with wet slushy feet!

Ironing and normal housework to be done also, at least I have an empty house today :j

Leftover chicken to be turned into chicken curry tonight.

Well thats it for me today, have a great day all & (((hugs))) wherever needed.x

A cold and frosty one here today, I love the crunch of frosty grass. pets walked and fed so off to school in a minute. became a great auntie for the 2nd time last night as my DN had a baby girl. need to finish her quilt and some knitting tonight. Have a late night at school as have to prepare the Christmas Fayre so DD will make sure the menfolk cook something for tea. DD is happy as she's going to get paid for her work placement now. She will be there for 6 months but if a better job comes up she can take it. At least she will have some money coming in so won't be so expensive for me. Hope you get your shower JackieO and have a nice visit from Shelley. Hugs to all in need and hope everyone stays warm and safe. :) Tru you do know robins are spies for Santa, he is checking on you to see if you have been naughty or nice. We have a robin that hops around the school grounds and that's the story one of the children told me once:rotfl:

Oh. Well that's me in trouble then. I've had a hell of a year and instead of accepting things I couldn't change, I deciding that being grumpy and unhelpful was the best way to deal with things :rotfl::rotfl:

    Morning all,

a cold and frosty day here but what a treat out of the south facing upstairs windows.

    th_DSC_0003_zps5b7f458c.jpg

Actually, the picture taken doesnt do the sky justice the sky is breathtaking right now.

Last night i had another rare oportunity to see through my sons eyes and i didnt like what i saw. I had much the same experience about 6 weeks ago when i saw through my eldest daughters eyes. Both echoing the same thing (though my daughter was more vocal about it).

I dont really want to go into another whinging session on a public forum but this is as close as i'll get to a diary so i'll say no more.

Managed to get through the whole night without having to stagger down the stairs at 2-3am to let the dogs out. Didnt need to get up myself either so i'm celebrating with a bottle of peach flavoured water.:)

Not much to do today. Will finally sort the baby photos out for my son and need to visit Sam in the post office.

    Have a good day all.
