Hi everyone,

Does anyone know if its possible to turn off Orange's answerphone service on my mobile? It's a work phone so I don't pay for it, but it annoys because of the following scenario:

John phones me, I'm driving, so it goes to answerphone.
I stop, see "missed call - John" on the screen, then listen to my message.
Message says: "Hi - this is John.. can you call me back".
Then I delete it, and call him back.

I knew it was John already because of the missed call alert, so there was no point them leaving a message, or me listening to it. I've tried asking people not to leave me messages but then it sounds like I'm some grumpy old git...which may or may not be true

I've disabled it on Vodafone before, but there doesn't seem to be any options on Orange to turn it off?

Thanks

You have to call Orange up to diasable it mayte, they usually ask for a reason so just tell them that you get a lot of messages that are junk and is costing to much money to listen to them

you don't have to call them, in your phone go to settings>call settings>call divert. (should be something along those lines depending on your handset). And there should be the option to disable all diverts.

Indeed - although so long as you've got the autodivert product active, it'll still override any user-controlled diverts.

Come to think of it, that's usually the better solution than removing Answerphone entirely - just ask CS to remove the autodivert (using those exact words) and just have control over it yourself.

That's because you've got the autodivert active, which will override handset settings. As I mentioned in my previous post, call CS and ask them to "remove the autodivert to answerphone" (Preferably use those exact words to save confusion)

A couple of SIM Updates later and you'll have full control over your answerphone diverts using your phone's menu....
  • For PAYG there is a controllable way.

Effectively after setting a greeting message, then go and set a temporary greeting message like "do not leave a message, send a text".
Whilst doing this you get the option to stop answer phone.

The advantage of this is you still should get the missed call alerts.

    Quoted from help orange website:

    switching off the Answer Phone

Sometimes you might not want callers to be able to leave a message on your Answer Phone. To switch off your Answer Phone call your usual customer service number.

If you want to switch off your Answer Phone for a short period of time, say for example, you’re going on holiday, then you can set up a temporary greeting and stop messages being left for you.

    To do this:

    • Press and hold 1 to access your Answer Phone menu.
    • Press 2 for Greetings.
    • Press 3 to set and temporary greeting and follow the prompts.
