TalkTalk avoid at all costs.

I recently signed up to TalkTalk, about six months ago, when I found that they offered the cheapest combined line rental and unlimited broadband.
When I received my router it didn't work and once a working router was sent the speeds were far slower than the previous provider- O2. 6-8 MB/s cf with less than 1 MB/s with TalkTalk.
This isn't the real problem with TalkTalk though as technical difficulties do happen, although I've never experienced them with Sky, BT or O2.
The unforgiveable problem with TalkTalk is it's woeful customer service. I phoned recently and first, instead of putting me through to the right department to deal with my problem, they hung up.
Then when I phoned up a second time the person I spoke to started arguing with me and was really rude. She refused to give me her name when I said I wanted her name or a way of identifying her so I could complain. I was then put through to another person after waiting for nearly an hour without the option for a call back.
During the wait I could conversations from other customers and staff and the buttons on other phones beaping as they were being pressed.
I wrote to TalkTalk complaining but in return, as of yet, only received an automated email.
I'm not the only who has had problems. Pollsters on ThisIsMoney website voted them worst for customer service in 2011 and 2012. This poll was not just for broadband and telecom., but for ALL UK companies.
Having had a cursory look at other threads in this forum I've noticed that others have had similar issues.
I COUNSEL USE TALKTALK AT YOUR PERIL YOU WILL REGRET BEING THEIR CUSTOMER.

I've personally never used TalkTalk but have heard plenty of bad things about them.
I'm currently with PlusNet and haven't had any major problems with them...a while ago the router they supplied decided to stop working but they had sent a replacement within 2 days. Just waiting for the fibre optic in my area now because I get limited quite a lot it seems.0
