How would they know you had refused it?
If it's a job advertised on the DWP site and they know you have applied for it they can follow up the application.

  • Got sent to a decision maker for failing to comply with direction to sign up to jobmatch. Got into an argument with the advisor who said in his own words, "its not in the legislation to sign up for UJM" and also stated that I can sign up but dont have to use it, what a load of garbage. Doesnt make sense to have details stored and not use the site. He also stated that the system isnt created to catch you out, guess they are tryna reassure us. Anyway, if I get sanctioned, Ill let you know, this could mean we could well get sanctioned for not signing up.

I'm very sorry to read that a decision has been sent up. It's not only claimants that believe what they are told, clearly JCP advisers are believing the line that was spun by management .

Obviously I cannot say for sure that no sanction will be enforced but I think it highly unlikely. There does not appear to be any specific legislation that a Decision Maker could cite to make any sanction enforceable.

There are loads of other jobsites offering the same service and indeed.com even lists JCP vacancies.

I would be confident that there will be no sanction. Please email your MP. If there is a sanction - appeal - DR7 form

It does no harm to register and post a CV ( of course there are security issues as with all sites) but do not give permission for JCP staff to access your UJM a/c

    Good luck

Thanks, feel a bit better after that but still anything is possible. That part in bold was my main point to the advisor but he kept on answering back with "everyone needs to sign up, we've told everyone". I didnt believe it anyway and now Channel 4 news have also written up about the site being a "scammers paradise" and that it isnt mandatory to sign up.

Just search "channel 4 scammers paradise" in google to find the article.

    Dear Nuisance

I think there has been issues with security but the main problem is that people rather naively do not consider it as any other jobsite but think that just because it's got direct.gov on it that all the job vacancies have been 'positively vetted' . Site users are just giving away their ID without thinking.

    Good luck

Well I am in the same boat and have been sent to the decision maker for not following a direction to sign up. When I went in this morning it was a different woman, she appeared to be senior and took over my signing.

Seems she was ready and waiting and said that there was a note on my file that I said on my last signing that I would not sign up as it is not compulsory

    ***forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=4304393&highlight=

I said it is not and she said it is and I am directed to I said it is not compulsory and cannot be directed. I showed documentary proof of the last fortnight where I applied for at least 6 jobs a day and confirmation of a interview I had been to, also confirmation of an interview tomorrow and one on Monday.

I stated that we cannot be compelled to sign up as per DWP BB/153/12 and it is even on their union website the PCS which she said she was a member of and asked why would I be on that site, like !!!!!!?

I got the following link up on my phone:

    ***.pcs.org.uk/en/department_for_work_and_pensions_group/dwp-news.cfm/id/D34395B0-26B7-4E67-81B32F80CFEBB3E8

and she still disagreed, strange considering it is her union she is paying subs to and has confidence in them for any prospective needs she may have in the future but doesn't want to believe them where I am concerned.

    Well lets see what happens

(Sorry cannot post links as I am new, you will have to copy them into your browser)

Look at it another way, if you sign up for UJM and 'forget' to take your written jobsearch to the JCP they can log into your account and see what you have been doing to look for work. Thus you then avoid a sanction for ASE (which is now 4 weeks under the new Sanction Regime).

There really is no conspiracy here, why do you all keep looking for one, its merely another tool to help you in your jobsearching.

This is not true and wrong to make a blanket statement. In using UJM nothing comes up for me in the search terms I use for work and also when I extend the area the amount of roles are minimal at best as per my other thread.

I have more success, more results using different platforms and different sites than the UJM. Also any roles advertised on these sites and platforms I use have the roles sometimes as much as a day or two before they have appeared on UJM as I have checked these out. This puts me at a distinct advantage in applying as these are going up on other sites well before and my applications will be 100's down the pile, by which time they will have found several prospective candidates

Aww, bless, such a rosy outlook.

It is merely another tool which can eventually be used to easily impose even more sanctions.

They could do with a "no agency jobs" filter on it. That would make life a lot easier. They may be the JCP would realise that not all jobs on this or any other job search site actually exist.
