I notice Mr Osborne didn't fully answer the best question I have heard him asked over the last few days and of course it came from an e-mail from a viewer which went along the lines of.
"How have you been affected by any of these budget cuts?"
The best he could come up with? He has had a "drop in his salary", he of course failed to mention it was a small drop in the Ministerial element of the salary.
Fact is he hasn't suffered at all.
Do you seriously think that he sets the budget with a view to enhancing his personal wealth?
If you're on this tack, how about all the gains made by Labour MPs through HPI over the last 15 years? Did they restrict planning to boost HPI?0 -
Labour's approach already has led to a major crunch - the one we're in right now.
Quite so. We didn't have to go to the IMF because Labour got booted out just in time. Put them back in and its odds on we will. But once again I fear that the blinkered UK electorate will have to learn this the hard way. Labour is like an addicted gambler who deals with serial losses by borrowing money to put on ever increasing stakes, but never hits the jackpot.No-one would remember the Good Samaritan if he'd only had good intentions. He had money as well.
The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money.

Some are so gullible. There were no suprises because they'd already leaked the fact that they were off course. They then offer something small in the speech itself to make it look like its not quite so bad. Osborne describing Ball's response as the worst ever is neither here or there. Firstly do we care what an upper class priviledged pasty faced idiot thinks? and secondly laughing at Ball's speech impediment says more about the 'flashman' Etonian types across the chamber than anything else! The sooner we are rid of the privileged tory scum the better. They care nothing for the issues of ordinary people. They live in a different world and are propped up by the bigotted Daily Mail types who can't see beyond the red flag issues of immigration and benefit scroungers!
It had nothing to do with speech impediment and all to do with the fact that Balls is a back room manipulator and bully who can't hack it in the public eye.
All this spewing of class warrior vitriol is very facile and tedious and last century. Some of us try to hold a reasonably intelligent discussion.No-one would remember the Good Samaritan if he'd only had good intentions. He had money as well.

I'm unsure what the point is here? Should every member of the tory cabinet (indeed, maybe every member) be asked the same?
If they have not "suffered", would you propose the budget for the entire country is changed?0 -

I think that could be termed 'the pot calling the kettle black'0 -

No, he doesn't really need to.
He did say on the radio today that he understands what (poor) working families are going through and the difficulty making ends meet (or words to that effect).
Not aimed at him particularly but do any ministers or shadow ministers really understand? In GOs case he is a multi millionaire, apparently, and has been privately educated, Oxford educated, living in a wealthy family. with a career in or around Westminster. I am sure this is similar to many in or aspiring to these positions.
It would be nice to see something obvious in their history that they had at least worked in the field normal people exist in, if not lived in it for a period."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

It would be a start, doesn't have to be financially, bring some realism to the debate. Perhaps some protracted voluntary work in the frontline to understand some of the issues and problems that their policies cause."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

There are two reasons for this :-
1) The party that does purport to understand and represent ordinary people screwed it all up so badly that this supposed party of out-of-touch millionaires won the most seats in 2010. Even the left-leaning LibDems saw the need to keep them in government in order to keep Labour from dragging us to economic and financial oblivion.
2) The Conservative Party used to have lots of grammar school high achievers from relatively humble backgrounds gaining high office. But as Labour's social engineering policy of comprehensivisation walked its way through the generations the high achievers now mostly come from independent schools -- ergo the wealthier classes. And by the way that applies in large measure to Labour too.No-one would remember the Good Samaritan if he'd only had good intentions. He had money as well.

BTW why is it so much lower than 3G? Is it such a poor upgrade relatively.
Looks like what Brownie lost on the gold he more than made up with on the airwaves'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. The 3G auctions were always going to raise a fortune, anyone who remembers how telecom & tech stocks in general were at the time will understand that.
Wasting billions by announcing the sale of gold in advance on the other hand, was the work of an utter moron.
A 6th-form economics student could have made far more from the sale of 3G+Gold then Gordon Brown did.0
