cool so going for lego, and want to get a book as well. Any recommendations for a 5 year old?
I remember a few classics from when i was a child:
Dear Zoo
Funny Bones
Sam's Sandwich
but not sure on age range.0 -
I'd recommend Horrid Henry, he might not be quite able to read it himself yet but it won't be long and in the meantime mum could read it. They come in an easy reader version too if you wanted something more accessible and are full of the cheeky grossness that appeals to that age.0

My son at this age was not really good with Lego and he was really upset that he could not do things properly. So I had to do everything for him. As for the preference Thomas and Friends “Take Alone” (just the trains), but it had to be his favourite characters. Diesel 10 N1 favourite, then Diesel, James, Thomas and some other ~20 trains (his little sister still play with all the bunch). Pity about TV, they have several good full length movies. Superheroes was another sphere of interest. Batman, Robin, Spiderman. We had b bunch of toy soldiers (10sm height, moving legs, arms – that kind), some of them were used as baddies. Now my son use all of these figures to make pretend football match

You Choose was a very popular book in our house.
Looking at the reviews on Amazon it appears that we were not the only ones who liked it... http://www.amazon.co.uk/You-Choose-Pippa-Goodhart/dp/0552547085/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1356003391&sr=8-10 -
