What to buy for my 5 and a half year old brother?

My little brother is 5 and half and lives with my mum 200 miles away, so I'm looking for some thing easily posted or bought online and delivered there directly.
I don't see them very often so don't know much about him.
My biggest no, no's are anything that requires use of the tv, games consoles (handheld or otherwise) and mobile phones etc.

If you don't know of any characters he's in to (Ben 10 etc), then lego or meccano or something usually goes down well with little boys! Or perhaps some nice bedtime books?0

5.5 years old, you can't go wrong with Lego or KNex and good shape for packing0

Playmobil! You can buy so many different sets!
Knights, spies, pirates, knights, family, vacation
Easily added too with other sets or great to play with by itself0 -
I second (or third) the lego and playmobil suggestions. Doesn't even matter if they are duplicates of some that he already has - you can use the sets to build different things.0

Lego - it is the favoured toy in this house - I have a 6 year old and a 3 year old who both love it - and me and dh do too lol.
Argos have a deal on their lego at the moment, we got a box full of mixed blocks for £12.49 down from £25. http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/3889455.htm
Plus it can be added to easily.
As much as I like playmobile I do find it to be very expensive (I know lego can be, but not as much as playmobile).

My little grandson (almost 5) is mad on Superheroes. Have a look in the Disney shop - they have loads of reductions on at the moment.
Or, along the same theme, a Fancy Dress costume - spiderman, Transformers etc, and it would be lightweight to send.0 -
You can't go wrong with one of the Lego Brickmaster sets.0

You could get him a playdough set or make up a craft or baking hamper, both of which many examples can be found on this forum.0
