Best Data Plan For Nexus 4
Hi,
I have just bought the Nexus 4 and would like some advice on where I can find the best data plans available.
I was previously with Vodafone, and my contract (18 month) finishes in a couple of weeks & I am not concerned with keeping my old SIM or number.
I had a look about but the only ones that I can find don't include internet usage, but instead only list how much each call/picture will cost to make etc. I usually only make about 10-15 calls a month (if that) and approx 40 or so texts. The main use of my phone is to check emails (and send) plus surfing the web, reading articles, checking my sites stats etc.
If anyone could point me to some decent places to look for a decent dataplan that includes a SIM, I'd appreciate the help.
Regards,
Richard

If data is a priority then check out Three or GiffGaff depending on the amount of mins and sms required. I'd recommend a payt sim to try Three out - coverage isn't brilliant everywhere, but they have invested a lot in their back haul network and the data speeds that I get on my phone are very impressive for a device that's not DC-HSPA, as your device is, if they have decent coverage then for u/l data and speed I'd recommend 3.0

I've just got one of these as well - at least, I hope it will be arriving next week. I've gone for the Virgin sim only deal, £12 per month rolling contract, unlimited data, some texts and calls, can't remember how much exactly, but like you I don't use my phone much as a phone, and more than enough for my needs.0

I use mine on Giffgaff0

Just been searching for similar - and also just got a Nexus 4!
From my searching it was very clear that you need to get a sub that has sufficient free data in the monthly allowance. The costs are usually extortionate outside of the allowances so you're going to win no matter how many "free" minutes & texts are going unused each month.
Unless you're going to be not using data either in some months, forget PAYG. Metered data is extortionate, so it was blatantly obvious to get one of the packages that throw in 30-day bonuses if you top-up £x. This literally ends up being a crap version of the subscription and you need to remember to top-up.
I wrote down the best deals I came across and of those the one I think best for you would likely be Three's £13/m sim-only, all-you-can-eat data, 200mins & 5000txt.
Alternates:
* I know I said forget PAYG but the one exception is GiffGaff, unlimited data £12/month. I'd rather the reliability of the subscription, but maybe you don't.
* for £12.50 Tesco has 1gb data with unlimited BT Openzone WIFI, that is if they will let you select the "iPhone" sim-only plan. Also 250mins & 5000txt.
* If they wont give you the wifi, £10 at Tesco gets you 1gb data, 500mins and 5000txt.
* For £12 Virgin have unlimited data, 150mins and unlimited texts.
* For £10 Virgin have 1gb data, 250mins and unlimited texts.
EDIT: checking today the Tesco deals seem to have changed - not favourably
Note: All of the above are 1 month rolling contracts. All carriers will supply a free sim card, you will need a Micro SIM for Nexus 4. All of them should adopt your current number if you want. Just get the "PAC" code from Vodaphone when you tell them you're quitting. You might also want to get the code from Vodaphone to unlock your phone for use on any network. That way you can use it as a backup or sell it.0 -
Don't forget Virgin sim only for £12 per month, rolling contract with one month notice, unlimited data as posted above. Virgin uses T mobile, therefore presumably EE now. Never had any problems with coverage on my PAYG with Virgin.0
