    home bargains today

I spent £22 today, which is more than I should have, but less than I have done on previous visits. I mainly bought stocking fillers and household stuff.

On a more negative more, DN broke our toilet seat, so we are going to have to replace that, which I'm rather annoyed about. Whenever we have people over, something always gets broken.

I've just finished my rainbow cake tonight. The cake itself was fine, but I struggled with the icing and I had yo use what I had, as I didn't have any more left. Still, it's a first attempt. I'm making another one for a family party next week and I should have a bit more time to practice.

Pay day is today and the spending has already started, but I've got discounts:
Sainsburys - bought myself some pjs and DD some undies for when she starts school in September.
Skincare - 30% off from the Body Shop.

I bought myself some casual summer trousers today, which were £5 off. Plus I got a £5 voucher and bought DD an item of clothing, which cost me £2.50.

I managed to save an extra £2.25 on my order. My items weren't in store, so I had placed an online order, which should be readily for collection sometime next week. I was in store today and found all of my items, so I bought them, as I had a £2.25 till spit. I will need to refund my original order when it arrives in store.

    wheelin' and dealin'

I've been eyeing up some summer sandals and I bought them today, with 20% off, saving £9. Plus, I got cash back of around £3, so it's been quite a big saving!!!
  • Well done on the bargain sandals, hope your enjoying half term.

I'm not on half term - DS' school isn't off for a couple more weeks, but DDs nursery was shut for staff training, so I took a day off.

We have a family party this weekend and I'm bringing a rainbow cake as contribution. I baked the cakes whilst the lasagne was in the oven. I've frozen them for now and will ice them the day of the party. I also made some beef for dinner tomorrow, so that all OH will need to do, is put on some rice to go with it. I also dyed my hair with henna, so I've had a really productive day!!!

Ds school is the only one in our area that has different holidays, everyone else is off this week. The plus side is that I can take him out on trips and pay off-peak prices and its quieter. The down side is that we struggle with childcare (MIL and SIL work in schools, so are back at work when DS is off).

penny the only reason I make cakes early and freeze them is in case they go wrong when I'm making them and so will have another opportunity to remake them!!! I set myself a challenge to learn to bake this year, but I have to plan my baking like a military operation from finding recipes, to buying ingredients. DD is 3.5 and she helped make the cake - later on, I caught her in the kitchen covered in icing sugar and food colouring with a bowl of 'cake mix' (no idea what she used!!!!).

    Hi everyone,

I realised I haven't posted in a while, but I haven't been absent. DS' had a school holiday last week, so I've had a lot of childcare juggling to do!!! Luckily, things will be back to normal now.

OH and I went to the cinema and I saved £7 on the tickets, which I'm pleased with. We have about 4 other films we also want to see over the next couple of months. We don't go out much, so it's nice to have something we can do together.

Today is father's day and I bought OH a couple of presents from the children, which he liked. One was a last minute present, which nearly didn't happen!!!

I've also got my Xmas shopping mojo back. I always buy throughout the year, but for a couple of months now, there hasn't been anything in the shops. I think I'm over my dry spell now and have some good bargains, plus a couple of ideas in the pipeline.
