I'm not sure telling them that you took 100 quid out knowing another debit was due to come out would be a valid excuse, albeit they shouldn't have let you.
Is it gonna come out though? Id understand if the transaction was on my statement as pending or something but no trace at all. But , yes i will be putting it back in, i only withdrew it out of curiosity to see if it would allow me to. Worth calling bank or not?0 -

I very much doubt you have just got 100 quid of free stuff from a shop. You should do the honest thing and put the money back, and put it down to retailer/bank error, to save yourself the charge, which I'm certain you wouldn't be happy about!0 -
The Co-op online systems do NOT show debit card purchases made in shops or on line immediately. These transactions come through via the Visa network and typically take a working day to appear on your statement unless the retailer is slow to submit. Sorry OP but you are incorrect in thinking these show up any quicker.
ATM withdrawals come via the Link network and these ARE debited in real time.
This is a constant bugbear with some customers, especially those who cannot manage their account in any other way than checking their balance on line, over the phone or via ATM several times a day. It is not an issue for the vast majority of customers.
Co-op are, however, sympathetic to this problem and are looking at updating their on line balances to reflect in flight transactions.Ethical moneysaver0 -

Yes i know they dont show up online. Its always a few days behind. But the link cash machines are always instant, or have been in my experience but still didnt show on my availible balance and let me withdraw the money . I will be putting the money back in the bank today . Just abit baffled abouy it all lol0 -
ATMs do not show Co-op debit card purchases in real time - they will only register once the Visa updates are run overnight - i.e. on the same basis as they show on internet and mobile banking.
Cash machine transactions and cash paid in at a Co-op branch or Post office counter are the only real time, cleared transactions that show up if you do a balance enquiry through ATM or another channel. Everything else gets updated overnight. (But not all retailers send their transactions promptly hence why they may take a day or two more to appear).
Unsatisfactory position which, as I said above, is being looked into for a solution.Ethical moneysaver0
