I was on a Ryanair flight yesterday and they were offering an ecig for sale (£6 I think) and it was stated it could be used on board their flights.
  • You do have to be aware that these cheap ones are nowhere near as nice as the real better quality vaping kits. Mine doesn't resemble a cigarette at all.

To the person who said they wouldn't let people drink in front of their kids.... seriously? How on earth do you avoid that on a flight?

I bought some of Ryanair's nic replacement cigs, they weren't e-cigs, and they were supposed to give you a hit, but without smoke. Needless to say, they were rubbish and I stuck with my nicotine gum.

When I'm ready to quit again, I'll be going down this route, it's worked for me before, even having the hand to mouth action helps, and the hit you get in your throat is good for smokers too.

As for the smell... no different to sitting next to someone eating a bag of sweets, usually the smells are very similar and they come with very interesting flavours, liquorice being one of my favourites.

Although back to the OP they weren't allowed on the flight

Nor does mine dotty, mine resembles a big metal tube with a clear/purple/smoky grey/black tank with a purple tip on top. ]

There will always be some smell from whatever vapour there is, you get the smell of coffee from coffee, the scent of tea from tea, so there is some from whatever flavour you vape. HOWEVER the point was that if there is excessive vapour and an excessive smell - sometimes a burnt smell, then there is a problem with the tank they are using that needs to be checked.

And the smell I most get is that from the juice when I open the bottle - the lemonade flavour smells like Refreshers when in liquid form, the fruity stripe gum smells like juicy fruit gum, the White Rabbit smells like butterscotch, and there is a little residual smell especially if vaping too much in an enclosed space

  • Sounds similar to mine, but i also has a blue LED light come on when i press the button to vape. No one could ever confuse it with a cigarette.
being a girl i also bought myself a spare pink battery :D
Know what you mean about "burning" smell. Means the user is doing something wrong or there is problem with the tank.
Most sensible thing i have done in years turning to this and if my lung specialist gives it the green light i will stop for no one.
  • I tried a vapour cigarette last week.

I was absolutely blown away that I didn't detect any smell. I'm not a smoker and have a highly sensitive sense of smell, but reading the comments on here I'm wondering if it was either a very expensive model, or a one off?

It's not even that. It's there habit that they choose to do. Some kids think smoking is cool, my godaughter is 15 months her mum smokes. her daughter put pens and alsorts in her mouth mimicking a ciagrette. they pick stuff up.I wouldn't allow a bunch of idiots to drink Booze in front of my kids either. I'm far from snobby but people should set examples xx

How do you stop people exercising their legal right to drink on a plane? And why do you think strangers smoking e-cigs is more of an influence than a child's mother?

There are some really good e-cigs around and some really good vendors, unfortunately there are also rubbish e-cigs and not so good vendors. For good advice, ask on a reputable forum

Taking this into account there are currently three airlines which have banned the use of electronic cigarettes on their flights. Since 2009 Virgin Atlantic, TUI and Thomson have stated that these devices cannot be used in-flight.
EasyJet also say no to e-cigs. I read it in the inflight magazine this afternoon.
