So you didn't actually use your VISA debit card ? you just transferred money via the transfer facility in your bank account ?

In that case, you won't be able to ask for a chargeback, as these are for payments made using a debit card...

oh no! I did it as a money transfer via halifax online.

Is there no other way to get the money back?

You can pay either by a card or by a bank transfer, not both at the same time.
Chargeback is available for card payments only.

Now court actions is the only way to go: Small Claims Court
