Fantastic amount paid off the mortgages everyone. Congratulations to one and all. Lets hope to do the same again in 2014 and perhaps encourage others to think the same way and take control of their money.
Still striving to be mortgage free before I get to a point I can't enjoy it.

  • Kirstypark - thanks for suggestion of a prize, but reaching the £1m mark really has been a team effort. The enthusiasm and encouragement here is fantastic (even for those like me who tend to read more than they do post) - a big pat on the back to everyone :)

  • Just a word to say thanks VM, and everyone who posts, for the inspiration this year.

As my new siggy says we're going to take next year to do some big work on the house involving a flue liner for the woodburner, knocking through walls for a new kitchen and little bits like a stair runner lol but it all adds up so I won't be joining the 2014 thread. We hope to be OPing again around August 2014 as we have become moderately addicted to OPing this year! Sadly our kitchen really is ancient and our current woodburner really is unsafe so we need to throw some money at the house and being in our early twenties and planning to stay in the house we have decided to get the work done and aim to be OPing again late next year.

Thank you once again all! One million, wahoo!

    Wow! I've missed so much.
    Time flies and all that.
I've been meaning to come back for ages but I've been so busy.

Anyhow, the mortgage was finally paid about a month ago - 13 years early. As it was a month ago the initial excitement has died down. Now, I'm trying to save as much as possible before we return to the UK in the summer.

    Problem is I keep overspending.
