Ebay Seller avoiding giving address for collection

Bought an item Friday - says collection possible. Seller as not ticked the collection box - so it adds postage when i try to pay. I asked seller for a new total - and he asks for cash only at a mutually agreed meeting place.

I ask for address , to collect and pay cash, and he's ignoring me. Clicked on resolve a problem and there's nothing i can do. Ive just had the Ebay message reminding me to pay.

Ive never had a NPB - but i hate people who play games. Why put collection if you don't want people knowing where you live.

Can Ebay even do anything about this, or will i get my first strike?

  • Pay the total including postage, seller will have to post the item to you or refund you. You won't get a NPB against you either way

Postage is £15 and he only lives a mile away.

But i will bare that in mind if he files and NPB :D

How do you know that if he won't tell you the address? :D

Is the location in the listing that accurate?

Some people do not like goods collected from home.
Maybe meeting up is a good option.

I'd rather meet someone at a home address. It would make it easier to inspect the item properly, something that is important with collection items, cash and eBay. If someone wanted to meet me at a car park or wherever to sell me a laptop, I'd pay with Paypal so that I at least stood some chance of being able to claim in the event the item was faulty --- as there is no convenient way of testing many items while perched in Sainsbury's car park looking dodgy.

If you sell collection items then you are taking the risk; accommodating the buyer's preference is important as well as collecting the money and handing over the item. The buyer holds the cards and can walk away without the seller getting the cash.

I suppose in Tech's case the seller doesn't have to allow collection but it seems a convenient option. If they are not even supplying a place to meet, I suggest OP pays up and leaves appropriate feedback depending on whether they get the item or not.

Them people don't tend to put delivery or collection in their listings.

No mention of cash only either - which i always put if that what i want. Item says "worked when last used - so should do now" No address, and a cash sale = no comeback.

Ha ha you have just reminded me of my first ever Ebay transaction - in Sainsburys car park. I won an Apple Imac laptop and couldn't be bothered learning a new operating system. Sold it on Ebay - but buyer could't find my house and rung me to say she was outside Sainsburys - so i took it too her. It did feel dodgy - even though it wasn't. People just saw someone handing over a packet from a boot, for a wad of money. :D

Totally agree re paypal - i don't care where they give it me if i pay via paypal. But they said no. I said cash on collection then, can i have your address - and now they are just ignoring me. Seems dodgy - bet they are worried it won't work.

Just wondering what the item is?

I suppose there could be reasons why he doesn't want people calling at his house.

I don't think I'd have too many worries in meeting in a public place for the hand over of the goods, as long as it was daylight and busy

    Its an electrical item.

Thats not the issue - i want to be able to take action of it doesn't work.

Again - if you don't want people calling - don't put collection ok. Collection doesn't mean meating up a dark alley. Thats all you ever get on Gumtree "i will meet you in Liverpool, outside a pub". No you won't - i will call at your house.

Yes, I can see what you mean. If it doesn't work you can't just take it back to the car park where you met him

I think there's an advanced search in eBay where you can find out your sellers address, but I'm not totally sure - might be some help if thats true
