In debt, need help badly

In August I had to leave my night job after 8 years s I kept getting ill and couldn't get over little things like colds. I started work at a Call Center but after a week couldn't handle it and quit. I know work part-time in a hotel for very little money and so far in debt I can't see a way out.
I owe over £1000 on a credit card & over £1000 in the red on my debit card. I can't get a loan as I'm not earning enough and not been in my current job long enough.
I also work part-time from home but that only brings inn an extra £100 a month.
I'm desperately worried I'm going to go over my overdraft very soon
Is there anything I can claim to up my income. I have no children and live with my boyfriend.

You need to fill out an SOA with the income from you and your boyfriend, and all your expenses, to get the response you need."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0

Sorry to hear things have been tough. I'd recommend you post on the debt-free wannabe board where lots of friendly people in situations like yours will be able to offer support and advice.0

Hi
You could look to see if you might be eligible for working tax credits (depending on your earnings / hours /age etc) - http://www.turn2us.org.uk/benefits_search.aspx
It might be worth posting on the debt free wannabe section of the forum and considering posting up a statement of affairs (showing income & outgoings) as the people on there may be able to suggest ways to best handle your current debts and suggest changes you could make to your outgoings to be able to manage better. Debt-Free WannabeA smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Cant your boyfriend help with paying the credit card off ?
Definitely fill in an SOA.0 -

Its not my boyfriends responsibility so pay off my debt. Plus his Dad has already helped us with a months rent. At 28 I shouldn't have to ask parents for help

Statement of Affairs - a list of all your income, expenditure and debts. I think there's a link to a layout over on the debt-free wannabe board0 -

No, but it's not ours either which is the way it works out if you want to "claim". If you are living as a couple you should be supporting each other rather than expecting other people to work for your benefits.
I know that won't be what you want to hear.I also work part-time from home but that only brings inn an extra £100 a month.
How much of your time is spent on this? You could equal that with just 4 hours a week sat on the till at Tesco. What about getting a second part time job to sort yourself out?0 -
Good attitude so far, but as others have said, if you are a couple then help each other - it can only make you stronger.0

I came on here for advice not abuse! I'm not some benefit sponger, sitting on my !!!! wanting money handed to me! I worked at Sainsburys for 8yrs & when I could no longer work nights there was no available positions on days. I applied to everywhere including Asda & even though I had supermarket background didn't even get an interview. I now scrub toilets for a living. I work from 8am until 2-3pm only contracted 20hrs a month as that's all they can give but been able to do some overtime as its busy.
I then go home and work on my business. The only other thing is to get an evening/night job again & that's what got me in this state to begin with. I have a HND in Textiles/Fashion & yet it's got me nowhere!
I'm not asking for hand outs I'm asking for advice. I've tried loans & can't get any due to not working in current job long enough!DEBT: 27/12 £4060  6/1 £3906  15/1 £3756 :T 30/1 £3700  7/2 £3911

Dead right on this - a case where the sum of the parts is greater than the parts individually. How much more time do you have available for work?broad-sword wrote: »Good attitude so far, but as others have said, if you are a couple then help each other - it can only make you stronger.0
