We will get ours from our local farm shop 4 miles away. Except it won't be turkey as we are not keen on itLife is short, smile while you still have teeth0 -
Never eaten it since I watched them getting killed on the farm.
They know fear, when they have a few thousand to do in a day , there's no time for any mercy.Be happy...;)0 -

I remember one year many years back,we bought a frozen turkey and it had embedded in it,some kind of pop up device, the idea being that when the little red pin in the device popped up,turkey was cooked. It did and it was..perfect. Never seen them since.
I had a fresh turkey from Sainsburys since 2008 or 2009 and they had those red pins in.
I getting my turkey from Sainsburys as I get 15% discount.0 -
Ordered mine from our Veg Box company Able & Cole - Turkey Crown feeds up to 8 for £40, also ordered Gammon joint to cook for later in the week (only 2 1/2 of us so there will be leftover turkey lol)Stay at home Mum to DS Oct 2011 and DD Dec 2013

I've shopped around a lot over the years. Never had better than a free range white (Mrs B and I don't like bronze feathered variety) from my local butcher last year, so he gets the business again this year.
I really do think supporting local butchers does us, as consumers, as much good as it does them.0 -

Debating trying the turkey/gammon combo from Iceland this year as none of us are only keen on turkey but I feel obliged to serve it
I've bought a turkey from lidl for xmas day, glad to hear that its not rubbish. Bought my gammon and beef from tesco as its half price at the moment:D0 -
Frozen Turkeys from any of the major supermarkets, they are the same as Fresh, but produced during the year to utilise the growing space.
As for the comment that they are not killed humainly, not true. None of these are 'Killed on the Farm' all are very closely monitored to ensure they have minimum stress, and nearly all from the major suppliers are put to sleep through gas tunnels.
Buy a UK produced frozen turkey from any of the major supermarkets, and you will be OK0 -

Some supermarkets will include a disposable timer with the turkey, Lidl definitely do this year.0
