My phone's always talking to the interwebs, even when I'm driving along. Doesn't mean I'm using it. Could just be pushing an email to me.

Not sure what that has to do with the price of fish? Comparing apples with pears. I'm talking about people who are not trolls who come here put a post up and ask for advice on that post. Talking about other members is not same thing.

Its a valid comparison. People have been known to start threads and be economical with the truth.

Not really, in this case it appears the police deliberately intimidated someone to get a false confession. They may have believed they were correct but that is not the point.

The OP's experience is inline with experiences I have had with the police willing to lie and frighten people to try get false confessions.

A few people seem to think that if you have done nothing wrong you have nothing to fear from the police.
This experience extends to when someone is being questioned by police there is a presumption there must be a reason other than a corrupt copper or just a copper who uses their position to bully and intimidate.

The OP's experiences fit with an experience I had 3-4 years ago...
I was doing nothing (except taking photo's)... but everyone around who saw me humiliated and roughly handled probably thought 'no smoke without fire'.
