If you weren't arrested why did you go and sit in their car?

If you were being questioned about an alleged offence you would have been wiser to tell them you did not wish to answer any questions without legal advice.

Just goes to prove what the police get up to and probably get away with. Opens your eyes a bit when something like this happens.

Opens my eyes most days when I see people chatting on phones in cars worth a fortune, hands free kits are peanuts compared to the cost of cars and phones. I think the police are justified in stopping people if they think they are on the phone whilst driving the lack of concentration is a major cause of accidents.

If the OP was not on the phone no harm done if he was maybe he will think twice next time. There is a law that says holding a phone whilst driving is wrong and the police are there to uphold the law, they have a duty to investigate.;)

They are peanuts in relation to the cost of a fine too, my parrot mini kit was £45 cheaper than a fine

this is what I see often

Personally, if you are telling the truth, I would make an official complaint to the Chief !!!!stable, but that's just me.

  • Eventually I was asked to leave their car and given a warning and a talking to about "people make mistakes, etc".

You could've replied, "Yes they do, and I accept your apology for yours".

And what would your grounds for a complaint be?

I didn't know what I was being questioned about, I was just told (yes, it was 'told') to go and sit in the car.

I don't need to think twice. I plain and simple do not use my phone whilst driving.

I felt the whole thing was mishandled. I was intimated and pushed close to making a false confession. And ultimately I was given a 'warning' for something I didn't do.

Believe me, having gone though a similar thing, its not worth taking this any further.
It will take over your life and you will have wished you have never had started.

This is in the back of my mind. Lots of time spent off work giving statements, being interviewed, etc and where will it get me.
