Thanks Adandem, the standard warranty is 2 years... do you know if there is a list of companies who provide extended warrantees so that I may compare prices?

    Thanks

Bosch and the best prices I found were through John Lewis Online as they price matched other sites but gave you free delivery and a £30 discount for your first online order when I bought mine 7 months ago.

    Try https://www.Freecycle.org.

Join your local group and ask for one on there. I got a very good Hotpoint FOC from a lady a few miles away from me. It turned out that she just wanted to get rid of it to make space for her new one. I had to wait 2 weeks for one that I had ordered to arrive, so we needed a stop gap.

As a thankyou I plumbed in her new washing machine for her, so we both benefitted!

The machine lasted us several months, then developed a problem that was uneconomecal to try to fix. But by that time we had already had our new one delivered and ready to install.

John Lewis own brand washing machines - don't know who makes them but I've had one 2 1/2 years and I love it. 5 year warranty, different models available, I have the 1200 spin speed one and vvvvvvvvvvvv happy with it!

I don't know of one, but I think I used an independent company which gave me a domestic and general policy. I think as long as take out the warranty before the appliance is 12 months old, you qualify for the new for old cover.;)

John Lewis machines are Electrolux group products, Tricity Bendix, Zanussi, Electrolux and AEG machines re-badged. They're all pretty much the same thing in a different wrapper anyway.

Have I done right by not buying the extended cover... it's £150 for 5 more years. Should I have bought this now, or is it best left until the manufactures one has run out?

    Thanks

I have a Bosch and if it helps it cost me £46.75 to have replacement brushes fitted recently and we've also had to have a new pump in the summer which was £86.75 fitted. The machine is around 6 years old now and it's used at least once everyday. It's currently on it's 3rd set of brushes.
  • Bought a Siemens XLM148 a couple of weeks ago from Troy £424.99.

I did lots of research on washerhelp.com and it was a toss up between this & the Miele. Siemens have an excellent reputation and are still made in Germany, whereas Bosch (part of the same group) have now hived off their manufacturing to Turkey & the jury is still out re quality.

Extremely well built (1400 spin) and with a 5 year parts & LABOUR warranty. The labour warranty is important as some others have 5 years parts warranty but it's the cost of the labour that makes repairs uneconomical.

Bought on Nationwide Classic Credit Card which entitles me to a further 12 months parts & labour warranty.

So 6 years piece of mind. My rationale (apart from it being well built) is that a company are unlikely to offer a full 5 yrs p&l warranty on their machines unless they are confident they are not going to be much called on.

Just bought a Bosch WAE28465 at a local independent store for £352. I'm delighted with it (it replaced an 8 year old Zanussi - bearings gone). It has a 2 year warranty. It also has a 15 minute quick wash facility which is great. I also like the way the instruction sheet details the amount of electricity and water each programme uses.

Thank you all for your replies. I found this site for extended cover;http://www.domgen.com/index.html

The home page says "Domestic & General is the UK's leading specialist provider of extended warranty cover for electrical domestic appliances and also provides repair protection for central heating systems". But when you run the 'Get an extended warranty quote' the payments are in $ under the section 'Choose your payment method'?

So that's not much help... has any one found any others?

    Thanks
