Aiming for a debt free life on latitude 60.2100° N

I have been meaning to start this diary since we moved here in the end of September but for what ever excuse haven't. Perhaps because I haven't really been able to make up my mind where to start. From 12 years ago when I moved to UK, from last winter when the idea about moving back home started to form, from the time when we hit the road on 20th of September this year?
Perhaps I skip all that and just start from now. As now we have settled in, still some bits and bobs missing (like curtains and rugs and some drawer and filing cabinets) but all in all we have all we need. Including a car. And as it happens we have now ran out of money. DH has some savings in UK and I do have some money in UK as well which I am going to transfer here. I was hoping to get a replacement for my broken Kindle (can't decide what to go for) but considering the present money situation and our wish to move from the right of occupancy semi to our own detached in five years time I think that is a luxury I can do without. Especially as I have just signed up for a gym .
Those who know me from my previous diaries know that I am always aiming for more orderly, debt free, and slimmer life. I can tell you that exactly those things are still very much on the agenda. Filing is all over the place. Budget doesn't excist and the skirt I bought last May is a little bit too small. So to the gym I go and DH is under strict instructions not to give me anything but salad in the evenings (I have lunch benefit so have proper hot cooked meal for lunch).
I have a huge pile of paperwork here next to me to go through, also I have yet another long list of things to do (like tax returns time two to UK to get some money back) and nothing gets done. So I am now taking toodledo.com for use again and from the list there choose at least one frog task to do every day. I love technology so I hope that this would be the way forward. As I can arrange an email to be sent to me from toodledo, no chance of forgetting.
Off I go now to try to get a hold of my life. Oh by the way we had a good snow storm on Friday. DD is now out happily playing with her new sledge we got for her yesterday for a tenner. We got skis and skates for DD from the recycling centre but there was nothing for me nor DH. DH bought skis yesterday and I bought skates. We are hoping to get skis for me and skates for him from the after xmas sales. Hence feeling a bit skint today. EEEkkkk.

Thank you everybody.

Bitsy - that sounds great, are you able to move closer to the coast as you have dreamed of?
Sitting here with bowl of porridge curtesy of DH who does all the cooking in the house. He really is wonderful. I did go to the gym yesterday, it was easy spinning class. After 10 minutes I was knackered and after 30 minutes I thought I am going to be sick. But I did survive the whole 45 minutes and after I left the gym felt great. I am going back today. Not to a class but to use the cross trainer for a bit. I can't do any running or hopping at the moment due to a dodgy knee. Need to get some weight off first.
Talking about weight. The gym people came to the office last Friday and had this machine with them which measures body fat. My BMI is 32.8 which is obese and my body fat % is 47.4% I am carrying 23 kilos of extra fat . Considering that DD is 26 kilos I am practically carrying the equivalent amount of extra weight. I couldn't dream of hunching her on my shoulders every morning so why am I carrying this extra weight.
But better keep shoveling this porridge in, DH is soon back with the dogs meaning that I need to get going. I am now using the public transport leaving the car with DH. We can't afford to keep two cars here (like we did in UK) but on the other hand we don't really need to. And walking to the bus stop and again to the train and again to the office is extra exercise."Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."

Well done on the gym trips :T and on the extra walking. Sounds like you are all settling in really well

My H was made redundant in August but got a better job......in Bath :j so not quite by the sea (although we won't live in bath it's too expensive) we shall be closer to the sea :j be more rural and bath is a darn sight more beautiful than Brum

Oooh Bitsy that is excellent. That is where I used to live before moving up to Brum. It is beautiful down there.
I don't really know what to talk about today. The get fit is very much in agenda. I went to the gym on Tuesday for little while, didn't have time yesterday as went to see the osteopath. OMG!!! That was bad but in the end in the good way bad. My back really hurt for the rest of the day thou but when I got up this morning it is much better. I am going to go to the gym today for a love2dance lesson. Should be fun. DH is out skiing and DD is out sledging. Oh and it is snowing.
As a way to get more organised I have been tackling my email subscriptions with venegance. I have been utterly shocked how many emails I get. Luckily I do have two email addresses, one for "proper emails" and one for all the subscriptions. I have lost count how many I have unsubscribed from and also how some of them make it ever so difficult, some cases even impossible to unsubscribe. Progress has been made thou.
I can see that DH is back with his new skis. I better start getting ready to go to the gym. Oh it is bank holiday here today.
We had some water damage in the office yesterday, right next to where I sit. So we have been recommended to work remotely tomorrow when the repair guys are coming to fix it (they couldn't yesterday as the place was so wet, had to be dried first). I am looking forward to that, no commute. But I need to shut myself to the spare room to be able to get any work done.
We still have some removal boxes to unpack. Need to take a look later today what there is left. And of course I have two boxes upstairs full of my craft stuff. I can see a pleasant time coming up making an invetory and putting them away.
So after a careful thought, here are the categories that I need to concentrate
- DFW i.e. money
- Health and fitness
- Home
- Craft stuff
But, must go now..."Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."
