B&Q Kitchen Sale ? Buy now ?

Options
Does anybody Know if I'll get a better deal if I buy now or wait until the "January sale".

Seen two that I like, one is a Cooke &Lewis, the other IT,and BQ are currently offering 15% off list price including any appliances, work top etc - which I don't suppose is too bad a deal if I needed appliances.........

As I'm prepared to shop around for work top, handles and appliances,I was wondering if anybody knew if they were going to be doing a 50 % off sale - which I'm assuming would perhaps only apply to cabinates or doors....?

Any Insider knowledge on how / when to get the best deal much appreciated :)

Yes. You'll get a better deal by not getting it from B & Q. Try Howdens or Magnet Trade.

From what I can gather Howdens Full list price is more than BQ - is this correct ? Do the above have a January sale ?

    TIA

Howdens full price list is off the scale. However, as they deal with trade, they work on volume. No one has ever paid full price for a Kitchen at Howdens. Their typical discount (off their 'nominal' price list) is around 75 - 80%. Plus they are inventive in getting to aprice that the account holder is happy with eg free sink etc. Its a very competitive world.

The big thing in Howdens favour is that they hold everything in stock, unlike B & Q who have a normal lead time of 6 weeks. From a fitting point of view this is important as the fitter knows is he has a defective panel, drawer etc, it will be replaced immediately rather than going through a logistics depot in the middle of nowhere. So from the end users point of view, it means that the kitchen is installed in the time frame set out by the fitter and you don't have a part fitted kitchen for wekks. additionally, B & Q are notorious at sending only half a shipment, so when it does arrive, dont expect it to be there.

I had a Magnet Trade kitchen fitted 2-3 months ago. I also had a quote from Howdens. The prices were very similar (around 3K not including appliances). About a year earlier i had a quote from B & Q at about 6K.
These figures just cover the actual kitchen price, not any fitting.

That sounds like a good price for a magnet.........

How Do you purchase a Magnet trade Kitchen - do you have to rely on knowing someone with an account ?

    Many Thanks

You need a tradesman to front it for you.

How to get a Magnet kitchen at trade prices (if you're looking to get someone else to fit it and don't know someone with a trade account)

    1. Go down to Magnet Retail.
    2. Go through their normal retail cycle of home survey/in store appointment, make sure you tell them it is supply only.
    3. When they give you the price, tell them it's a lot more than you want to pay.
    4. They will then re-cost it for you, through the trade side of the business, saving you a LOT.
    5. Don't mention my name or the fact I've told people to do this.

You'll get exactly the same product, but for a lot less money...
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

I know this is MSE Meeps, but are you trying to do yourself out of commission? Or are you admitting that Magnet's retail prices are too high?:D Or have you changed employer?

It's a known fact that Magnet Retail prices are extortionate.
