Anyone heard of this particular card?

  • No I havent.
However a quick Google shows an APR of 79.6% so I won't be applying any time soon.
  • I have been accepted for it albeit with a limit of £100...which will just get spent up and paid off each month. Apparently it converts into a normal Vanquis card when your limit hits 500.

I was wondering if anyone had had one and their experience of it.

    Regards

Do you mind me asking, with debts as your sig. suggests, why you need a card such as this? considering the Apr....

Sorry, they are the limits, not my DEBTS!!! lol, I seriously have no intention of maxing out these high APR accounts!!! I owe about £400 in total

I have 2 cap one cards, one is secured but I want my deposit back and so want to close it.

I am of the belief mind that Cap One can take forever and a day to increase your limit hence why I have applied for a Vanquis card as I led to believe they increase limits faster, at which point, I will dump all the accounts I have bar my oldest which is Jacamo and my Cap One Progress..

    Oh phew.

Why have you got all these accounts opened with no spend on them?

  • Trying to better my credit file, no longer use my Jacamo or La Redoute but wary of closing them as they are my oldest accounts.

SDG accounts apparently tend to increase limits quickly so look better on my credit file but once I have two larger limt credit cards, I will be will to dump all the catalogues bar the Jacamo which is my oldest account by a long way.

  • Off topic, but it sounds less believable than Moonbase Alpha (and I do like Space 1999)
  • But reading the ideas that you have here I'm wondering whether i could incorporate my ideas with yours. Thanks for provoking my thoughts!

Having lots of limits unused means you have lots of available credit. This can actually harm your chances of credit applications being approved because they think you may not need or use them, or worse that you may become overcommitted easily if you draw down on all of them at once.

The best thing to do is keep available credit to a minimum at the same time as keeping actual debt to a minimum.

As for Shop Direct, yes they do increase limits quite rapidly but there's no point keeping them because of what I said above and also because nobody sane would buy anything from them.
