Thanks Gterr. Alarms are old, so no problem. Pump size looks okay for the house size, so does look more like a setup issue. There will be more questions tomorrow!!!

I'll try not to interfere with Geotherms kind offer, but i will keep an eye on this thread, Below is a link to the technical details of the system, I cannot find any info on the performance curves at higher water temps (45 / 50) it only shows outputs at 35 degrees at +7, +2 and minus 7

    i.e. 7.1kW at plus 2 degrees and 5.6kW at minus 7 degrees

If you would like the heat curve settings down to -20C, I can send you them if you pm your email, as it is a pdf file.

    Gterr.
Can you let me know the electrical heater connection, which should be 4.5Kw. (menu 12.2.3). If you do not know how to access that, let me know, as factory setting is 13.5Kw

State total output, Compressor mode, Additional Heat only, all set to 4.5KW

Ok, that is the correct setting.
I am thinking that this is something to do with the flow rates through the thermostatic rad valves. Are there bypass valves fitted?

How would I tell? (preferably without taking up carpet and floorboards).

Are you thinking that the flow goes first through the rads then on to the U/F coils? The rads are on a time clock, so only on 2 hours morning and 5 hours evening. What happens when they are timed off? I could see if the pipe leading down to the U/F manifold still gets hot when the rads are off, but of course that says nothing about the flow rate.

This is the type of valve I mean. As soon as the TRV shuts down, the flow is carried on.

    Geotherm,

Here are pics of two rads: landing one and bathroom one. Landing one is a Danfoss, I think.

Two other points: original plumber told us not to turn off all the rads at once otherwise a pump would burn out, so we keep the bathroom one turned on at the rad valve.
Also, if you look at the previous pics I posted, the one showing the manifold has a motorised valve on the pipe flowing down to the manifold. Not sure what that's for, or what controls it, but presumably if it's off then nothing could get to the U/F coils??
