Sorry to hear of your redundancy.
I was made redundant on 21st November,so i posted my CV online at lots of recruitment agencies and i also sent random emails to local companies that looked good and by the 28th November i had 2 interviews, another 2 lined up which i didn't attend, and also got offered a job which i started this week and i have never been happier!
Chin up and be positive.Good luck for the future.Money does not bring happiness...but if you are already happy it does bloody help! :rotfl:0 -
I don't want to be a wet blanket and sincerely wish you well but I wouldn't put much (i.e. any) faith in the Job Centre and the JSA.
I was made redundant 3 years ago, at the age of 62. Because of my age I wasn't in any way hopeful of finding anything but I duly claimed the JSA. After two weeks I went to the Job Centre (no postal claims allowed now!) to be told I was booked into a workshop on using computers to assist me to find work. Without wishing to appear vain, I am quite capable on computers, both operating systems and software having in the past been employed by a software developer using C++. I can manage a few sequential words on a CV or job application and write code in HTML . However what put the final nail in the coffin was that, because I received a small private pension, my JSA gave me the princely sum of £9 a week which was less than the cost of the petrol to go to sign on. Needless to say I stopped my JSA claim so another "success " for the Job Centre!
I found and I expect you will too, you will get far more help and likely employment through private recruitment agencies or your own efforts.
Wish you the very best of luck.0
