    Hi

They shouldn't even see the card, though they may ask you to confirm the last 4 digits - they will ask you to put it in the card-reader, enter the PIN, and then refund your money.

However, there are risks associated with using a card that is not yours as it is against card issuers T's and C's to disclose your PIN to anyone.

In my experience they have always asked for the card that was used to place the order and also they have checked if the card number is the same as the one on the order (one time they even rang up head office to check).

Be aware that not all online brands can be returned to store - best to check the website first.

Not much of a risk... I doubt Debenhams will report back to the bank about it. If anything they'll just tell op the partner needs to be present.

Banks aren't daft (contrary to popular belief), they will know parts use each others card - the terms are more likely there to protect them in case of fraud or something to get them out of paying out on it.

It depends who serves you... They're not supposed to refund if the card isn't yours (if they even spot that), but I'm guilty of just processing a refund to a card with "Mr" on the front when presented by a woman. It depends how pedantic the person issuing the refund is I guess.

To be honest, where the card number matches that used to pay for the goods and the transaction is a refund the risk is very low anyway.

Debenhams are a really odd company with regards to returns as they have different returns addresses for different lines they stock.

I have returned to store in the past and all they will do with some brands is post them back for you and then your money is refunded once received back at the warehouse. All very odd.

They didn't even have a system to provide a receipt for me to say I had returned them so I had to ask the store manager to manually write me one.
  • Their procedure for items reduced more than 50% is to refund the amount onto a gift card so the payment card might not even come into it.

But as these were online purchases then DSR's come into play; OP should get a full refund.

Debenham's procedure is overridden by DSRs.
