It's a wonder any of us old folk ever made it to adulthood before the advent of combi boilers

I thought I would be able to get some assistance here as everybody I know raves about this site but do you know what I won't bother anymore.

When you start the OP with the words,
"This is a copy of a posting I'm trying to get out far and wide about my experiences of Sheilas' Wheels."

There is no indication that you need help or advice, just that you wanted to bang on about poor service from the company.

Having to read a lot of dross to find out that you actually have a question is only going to irritate people and very few will waste time reading what appears to be a feeble attempt at humour.
  • It is a long time to wait and I have every sympathy with you as my boiler has broken down and an engineer visited today and it can't be repaired until Monday.

However, I think you will have more success with SW and indeed the forum if you make a post that is more direct and to the point, I myself lost track of the chain of events halfway through.

There is no doubt you've had poor service and I do feel you should make a complaint to them but do so in a manner which addresses all the chain of events and your concerns in a manner which will be taken seriously by the reader.
  • OP - I'm sorry. I didnt mean to be rude to you. It is not nice being cold and recieving bad service from someone you should be able to rely on.

Really, I think it is commendable that you have tried to put a light hearted spin on a bad situation. Maybe more people should do that kind of thing instead of going on about compo etc.

Please accept this post as an honest appology for being rude.
  • I thought it was quite funny :o
Feel for the OP and the situation though.

Well, I'm in the minority then - I thought the letter was amusing and the service from SW's poor :T

Well thanks a lot for all the help, I really appreciate it. I thought this would be a novel and different way to raise a number of points but obviously i was mistaken, point raised.
Go home, turn your heating off and see if you'd appreciate a incompetent engineer making you wait unreasonably for heat for non specialist parts,

My heating hasn't been on since February. I still couldn't read all your post though.
just passing through.... Nothing to see....

Help, what help? You didn't ask for any help.

This is the Praise, Vent, and Warnings board so it's perfectly acceptable just to have a moan. But bear in mind if you actually want some help it's advisable to (1) use the correct board and (2) stick to the facts

TL;DR TBH. If you wish to complain to Sheilas' Wheels rather than about them on the internet I would suggest keeping the complaint succinct, sticking to the dates involved, what they told you would happen and what actually happened. Avoid emotive language and name calling. If you want advice, again the description and question need to be clear. I think the issue here is that you have put your complaint in very jokey language but expect a serious response.

    And you quoted it?

My thought exactly. This is the sort of post I never read. The OP should realise they can make a much stronger point using far fewer words.
