  • I am currently experiencing difficulties with Debitas, whenever i talk to them i feel bullied and intimidated and, basically, like i am banging my head against a brick wall.

I offered, in writing, to pay £100 per month but was told they would only accept £180. After waiting for payment slips i received yet another phone call, this lady told me they would accept £103 per month, gave me quite a telling off, and promised to post payment slips, i am still waiting for these to arrive.

In the meantime i have had yet another nasty letter with Debitas threatening to send debt collectors to my home. I called them immediately and told them that i had an arrangement to pay £103 per month, they told me that i had broken the arrangement. When i told them i hadn't received the payment slips they told me that i would have to phone back on 23/7 to set up an arrangement, i told them that i had already set up an arrangement but was rudely told that i had broken this, i replied 'only because you didn't send the payment slips'. I am not going to go into details as to why i need the payment slips, i just do, i can't pay without them.

This rude gentleman told me he would post me some out but i still had to phone back on 23rd, i am ashamed to say that i put the phone down on him, but as previously said, they do make me feel as if i am getting nowhere.

I still have not received payment slips, have received another nasty letter and have lost count of the number of times they phone per day, from 8.30am until 9pm. All the time i am getting further into debt because they have not sent payment slips. I did have a standing order set up to pay capital one £50 per month but cancelled this when we put the arrangement into place, i don't know whether or not to re-start this standing order.

These people are extremely rude and intimidating PLEASE HELP

Hi and I hope you're having some success with these louts. There are also several interesting threads on Consumer Action Group about this lot (eg:- http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/debt-collection-industry/200444-debitas-legal-services.html).

Personally, if I was sure I did actually owe them something and it wasn't all made up of unlawful charges, I would pay Capital One a few quid a month - same date every month - into the original account and keep detailed records of all payments. That way, if it ever did go further, I could prove I have been making payments, despite which they were still continuing to harrass and threaten me.

DON'T speak to Debitas on the phone or answer any of their security quesions. I usually find that asking them to hang on a minute whilst I switch on the recording machine throws them into a right wobble. Be prepared to be spoken to rudely though. For example, they phoned me again today and actually told me it was against the law for me to record conversations with them on my own phone. An arrogant thug who began to speak over me when I tried to reply so I let him whine on for a couple of minutes and said, "I'm terribly sorry - would you mind saying that again as I was totally ignoring you'.

    Bye, then....

Good luck and please don't be frightened of these slugs
  • son currently having grief from debitas - even although he has paid off the money he owed them - they're saying he still owes final instalment. he has moved away and I'm getting 5/6/7 ... and more calls a day at times. Now they've started sending him letters threatening court action - I've advised him to give them no more money - and not be threatened - so they're still up to their usual tactics.

If it is your phone, then write and tell them to stop calling - and if they continue, follow through with action for harrassment.

  • Debitas are a shower of s**t!

My wife is paying off her Capital One debt via CCCS but now Debitas have got involved and are demanding £139 when CCCS shows the debt as cleared!

They are calling up to 4 times per day and have written twice. My wife simply refuses to give them her security details when they call. That gets rid of them!

I have had issues with them as well, i send them a cheque for £50 on one pay day then another on my second pay day (i have two jobs) i never phone them to make a payment as they always try to be rude and intimidating with the bayliffs, i did mention they would not be welcome in my house i'm 6ft 2" and 15 stone, i throw people out of nightclubs and pubs and fight in cages for 'fun'....your bayliff will last about 2 seconds! she told me not to threaten her....a quote from my favorite film ended our one and only conversation "I say it's a dog eat dog world and i have bigger teeth than you" i get no phone calls and a statement twice a month thanking me for payment.....
Finally The Rock has come back to MSE....
