Long, Peaceful Beach Holiday.

Hi all!
I am in desperate need of a holiday. However, I have never booked one myself-I've always either gone with friends and family and they have always sorted it out, you know bookings, hotels and all that. I have no idea which websites to start from.
Anyway, I am a single, female student, travelling alone. I want to go to a hot country, preferably by the sea, but I want to stay there for about three weeks from 14th December onwards. I don't want to spend lots of money-obviously I appreciate a 3 week holiday would not come cheap-but ideally less that a grand for flights, accommodation, living costs for the duration. I would love to stay in a local house (by myself) or somewhere like that, as opposed to a hotel. Not fussed about tourist stuff as just want to spend time by myself somewhere to get some relaxation in before University exams and assignments!
Any suggestions?
Thank you in advance!

Firstly re-post this on the main overseas board as it will get more views.
Secondly, if by hot you mean long haul then check out the price of airfares over the festive period (plus accommodation too compared to low season rates) I think you may be in for a shock budget wise. I hope someone else can prove me completely wrong!0 -
Thanks, but I have no idea where or what the main overseas board is.0

Yes you can do it + with change, but in a hotel though
Easyjet Luton to Sharm El Sheikh Sat 15 Dec to Fri 4 Jan (£578)
Easyjet Man to Sharm El Sheilh SAT 15 Dec to Thurs 3 Jan (£544)
Choose from a choice of hotels from £252 B+B
with https://www.holidaynights.co.uk
or £258 B+B or £387 ALL INCLUSIVE via http://www.quickrooms.com/resultsshow.aspx?startday=15&startmonth=12&startyear=2012&numnights=19&city=205&numrooms=1&numAdults=1&numChildren=0&agentid=lyon
With your change you could eat out every second night to break the monotony
+ you could cut the price further by tinkering with the actual dates0 -

Or stay in an apartment in Sharm ? - lots of complexes to choose from Naama Bay, Nabq etc but do your homework whichever you choose (hotel or apt):)0 -
I don't want to sound overcautious (and I'm a woman who travels abroad on her own) but is Egypt really a suitable destination for a young woman who's never been abroad on her own before - particularly in the light of recent events?0

Yes. Just bail Sharm el Chav and head up to Dahab.0
