The currys modem takes Orange sims aswell as T-Mob...
    Thanks for your Currys link.

Does this mean that Virgin Media can also be used with the Currys dongle without unlocking? If so, the Virgin PAYG Big Data and Texts looks unbeatable for unlimited data for a month for £10. I think it's intended for smartphones but guess it would work in a dongle as well.

Yes it works, what I have dads set up as. After 500MB I think downloads/streaming are speed limited/stopped, he still to use over 500MB though to find out as he uses internet minimal for email mainly. I think they speed restrict downloads/streamimg then bar them if your web browsing is still to high over 500MB.

Frankly if you want to spend £10 a month Ovivo deal is worth looking into.

    http://ovivomobile.com/23/our-offer/the-ovivo-tablet-mobile-broadband-tariff/

500MB free a month, £10 monthly top ups get rewards after 3 months to 700MB then a further 3 months more 900MB free. You buy a further £5/500MB or £10 1GB if needed that month off your monthly £10 recharge/topup, that credit can also be used in a mobile on calls with the "broadband" sim http://ovivomobile.com/pricing/ (use voice feature on E173 ?)

    Loyalty bundles: http://ovivomobile.com/255/ovivo-rewards/featured-promotions-1/

£10 could after 9 months could buy you 1.9GB a month, 900MB free & £10 1GB, or 1.4GB with £5 credit left or use the credit for calling and get the free 500MB ;)

    Ovivo use Vodafone.

Thinking of putting dad on Ovivo for calls and a data sim in his modem, save almost £40 between his broadband & Orange contract a month and putting a Ovivo data sim in my old Nokia 6210c (I use as a modem) for calling me free. (both on Orange for free calls). 1 mobile and two broadband numbers business out of us at £30 a month.

If only Ovivo did a resell of Vodafone Red "unlimited" like other Voda resellers do I'd move my main contract to them aswell (and forget about the Nokia 6120c as a modem), that be £30 + £20 Unlimited plan (based on o2 "unlimited calls/texts pricing).

You can get free unlock for E173 online so why waste £9.99 at currys ? 21mbps is never going to happen unless you are sat next to the base station and the only person using it.

3-5 mbps is average for any 7.2mbps modem IF the network is not congested (and the old Orange UK signal seems the worst oif 3.T-Mob/Orange) do a lock to 3G* only on the modem & then manual network search for T-Mob/Orange or two EE signals on the E173, if you get two EE networks test each - the higher speedtest result will be old T-Mobile base station

(*2G calling on T-Mob is problematic as their 2G network is in bits & being upgraded)
