Unfortunately, I too have fallen victim to this scammer! Due to the stress and chaos that our sale and purchase has caused, I was caught off guard with this person. He was prompt with his calling me back and was sympathetic as my sale had gone through but my purchase was on the point of collapse and I was rushing around trying to source rented accommodation for myself, husband and two toddlers.
I have parted with around £80. On the bright side at least I have found out beforehand that this is a scam and I wont be in a situation on Friday waiting to move and then the removal people not showing.
However these actions are unacceptable and I will be taking this matter to the police. I am also a little upset that this quote came through the website mentioned above at the beginning of December? How can a conman be allowed to have access to individuals details without having his credentials checked? I thought there would be some sort of protection with regards to data?
Moving is a costly and stressful time without some chancer having the opportunity to rip off innocent and vulnerable people.0 -
My husband searched for removals and JP Movers came up on Quotemeremovals only a week or so ago. We explained to James that my husband has been made redundant after serving in the British Army for 26 years and he gave a reasonable quote which we were happy with. We are supposed to be moving out in the morning and I am heartbroken that this has happened. We have just been out for a family celebration for my husband serving 26 years for Queen and Country and this happens! We paid almost £200 by bank transfer and have been totally scammed. I'm writing this crying that someone could do this to us as if moving isn't stressful enough.0

My husband put in Google search engine 'removals north Yorkshire' and he saw yr search engine and completed the info you required then it asked him to check husband email and follow the link he did this and that's when jp movers was suggested. We live in Chattering Garrison in North Yorkshire and we are only moving local so we don't evenhave the Birmingham connection. It's almost 3.30am and I can't sleep because I am panicking so much about moving. I have emailed several very well known movers now in the hope that one can help at very short notice.0

I'm from Manchester and was quoted early December via their online quotation tool.
It seems quotemeremovals can't be trusted and the word needs to be spread.0 -
I now think quotemeremovals.co.uk are in on or part of the scam.
I have received replies from them from a yahoo e-mail address asking for my personal details :rotfl: to pass on to the Police.
The time they said JP was on the web site also doesn't match what the guy said in this thread.0 -
Hi
I have just be yet another person to be fleeced by the scam.I used the same site in Nov.I was sent a quote, the gentleman in question rang me.At the time i hadnt got a moving date .The week before Christmas he rang me back and i confirmed the date. In order for me to confirm the booking i was asked to send £94.50 via bank transfer. That day he was due to ring me But didnt. The alarm bells started to ring having looked at the info on here i then rang my bank, the money cannot be retrieved but i have reported it to Action Fraud.
I also took the details to The Halifax with which they bank they took details but said it would be handled by my bank.
:mad:The guy was well spoken ,seemed to know what he was talking about and very professional i was totally taken in.
Thankfull this happened prior to the move although now im going to have to hire a van and move myself as i can no longer afford to pay another company.
Thankyou to all of the people who posted on here. Its invaluable and lets hope this lot get caught.0 -
Am I the only person to think it odd that all ten corroborating posts above have been made by newly-joined members of this site?0

To be fair, that happens quite a lot with this type of thing, as people often don't research the company until something goes wrong, at which point the MSE thread pops up on a google search.
If you look at the toothwhitening thread and one for trial samples for weight loss, there is a similar pattern... and there is no doubt those guys are scammers.
But yes, in principle, I agree... a whole bunch of newbies saying the same thing does tend to raise suspicion.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0
