J P Movers Birmingham A WARNING! DO NOT USE.

I used a website recently called quotemeremovals.co.uk to get a quote for my house move. I received a number of quotes but one company J P Movers of Ruckley Road, Birmingham came back cheapest. I duly paid them a £95 deposit to secure their services only for them to not turn up to do the work. Various calls to their contact number indicated that my number had been barred. Had to refer matter to police and trading standards. BE WARNED. If anyone else has had the same problem with this company, you may want to contact tradingstandards@birmingham.gov.uk

How did you pay the money?
If you paid by debit/credit card you could claim the funds back via your bank.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -

Thanks Stclair, I found them on Google Maps, used Street View, found an alternative phone number from the side of van parked outside ( Google), just spoke to the people who lived there who were very shocked and do NOT seem to me to have any involvement. I gave them the 'good news' regarding the Police and they said they were going to contact them themselves.
Unfortunately, because it was by bank transfer, I don't expect to see my money back but yesterday when you Googled "JP Movers Birmingham" it came back with a info page on quotemeremovals.co.uk, now when I do it, it comes up with this thread, so  Moneysavingexpert, lets hope others see it and nobody else falls for this scam....0 -

Least you know their address:

Just to rectify my earlier mistake, I do NOT think the people who live at this address are involved. They were quite shaken and volunteered to go to the police themselves. And when I asked them what their surname was it was not p*****0

Hello all. My family and I have fallen victim to JP Movers' scam. We were moving my mum's elderly aunt on Friday and they never turned up... We had to move the contents of a 3-bed house over 60 miles in a Transit van.
Thankfully, we have just seen your post and I joined up just so I could comment on this thread! Glad we are not alone!
Like daveg72, my mum paid JP about £100 by bank transfer and so we aren't looking to get our money back any time soon unfortunately.
We also found this company through quotemeremovals. It seems we were just very unlucky.
We are reporting them to the police but we will also make trading standards in Birmingham aware that there are others that have been affected by their scam.
Let's hope that others see this post and stay well away!
Also, when we try and ring through to the number that was at the foot of their booking form, it just rings off as though they have barred our number, or they somehow have outbound telephony only set up on their system? Very bizarre!0 -
hi.
I'm a web developer on quotemeremovals.co.uk and have recently been made aware of this situation and will be happy to help where I can.
I can confirm that this company signed up for the free trial and are no longer receiving quotes, they didn't go past the free quotes stage. I've also removed their company page from Google but the page wasn't showing any of their details anyway as their account is inactive but I'd like to remove any web presence that I can and any link to Quoteme Removals. (it should be off google in the next 24 hours)
Their account was only active on the system for 2 days (4-6 November)
Quotemeremovals do screen companies before admitting them but I guess this one got through. No payments were ever received from this company as they just took advantage of the free trial.
I'll speak to the Quoteme owners and make sure this situation is avoided in the future. In the meantime I'll be happy to help in any way that I can.
Keep in contact through the website but if you require any technical details (IP addresses etc) then I can probably be of more help.
I hope you track them down and get your money back. Myself and Quoteme will help in any way that we can.
Please note:
I am not a representatve of Quoteme but am concerned about your situation and found this post.
I used your website on the 1st December 2012, and I had JP movers send me a quote, I have been the victim it seems of a scam looking at this thread, and paid a deposit of £136.50 by bank transfer, can now not get hold of him or any reply, and realise reading this that this man is still operating through your website, can you help me at all. This seems to have been going on since 2005, surely this free trial can't have been going on for this long.
Many thanks ttharo680 -
We have fallen victim to the same scam, departing with £135.50, and now can no longer get hold of this man. When I did a search on line it came up with this site, so unfortunately yet another one!!!
I have reported this incident to trading standards and phoned a number from Jimmy's removals who are not involved and are going to contact the police as it is there address being used on his website.
I hope no one else falls for this.0 -

For ANYBODY booking or buying ANYTHING
A bank transfer is NOT a safe way to pay a deposit; if what you are paying for never turns up you have little or no recourse in law.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
