No effort at all with a window scraper though, and no chemicals either.
I got the idea from watching a professional oven cleaner use one.

Oh dear - I have to confess this won't work with mine, it would just slide over it. :embarasse My gunk is almost part of the glass now, probably just me so am very embarrassed. But brillo does it for me and I burn up loads of calories as well as hopefully deal with flabby arms - I'm a great multitasker!

It doesn't slide over it-have you actually tried one?
It's effectively a razor blade, so will cut under the grease and carbon. The remains left can then be easily removed, as they're no longer stuck to the glass.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

I cleaned my oven glass with an OvenPride kit - I took the glass out of the door and left it in the bag overnight with some trays and it came out spotless.

The stuff is VERY strong though, got a few drops of it on my arm for a few second whilst cleaning the oven and it left a red mark - make sure you wear heavy gloves/gauntlets.

Homebargains sell the kits for a couple of quid.

Slide glass out, Ovenpride for a few hours, hot dishwasher cycle. Scrape any residue off with a wallpaper scraper.

Great advice, I don't know any glass that this does not work on.

My Nephew was very short of cash when he got his first flat, we recieved a free cooker from freecycle (Much appreciated) and the glass was completley brown. The blade worked a treat. Within 20 minutes it was done, no cleaner could of done that I don't think.

Think about scraping the car window when it is set like glass :)

I agree with Shegar, anything baked on Fairy Power Spray, leave it at least 10 mins, then wire wool, IF, its really that bad might need 2 goes.

I use it on all "baked on " pyrex dishes etc, no chemical smell.
Do I need it or just want it.
