Could I still have wrong tariff bill rebate?

I've been a contract customer with Orange virtually since they started and for years I just kept the same tariff till I got wiser. Then I changed to a much better deal, but for 7 months Orange did not switch me and I continued to pay my old tariff.
When I called, I was offered the rebate, which they said would take ages to calculate OR around £300 and an upgrade (which they said was worth around £300. I was just about due a free upgrade anyway). As I was behind with an extremely large bill (the reason I took a good look in the first place), I took the money and the phone.
However, I was sold a dud of a Nokia phone which I have since found no one likes. It has bugs that the Orange team have admitted to. It drives me crazy, yet when I called all they offered me was the same phone with updated software which I took and which has different glitches! As they will neither upgrade nor even downgrade me for free, I would really like some 'revenge' and reclaim some of the overspend from the tariff oversite. The figure would have been around £700 for 7 months overcharging. Do you think I could still expect a bit of a refund - or was I in effect 'paid off'?
