whats the best way to extend the cable on my router? as the plug socket is on one side of the hall and the phone socket on the other, would extending the router cable so both are on the same side of the hall, which would mean running the cable around the skirting board, or is there a better way? would there be a down side on my connection/speed?

To be honest, it is best to keep the DSL cable as short as possible, so I'd be more inclined to wire a fused spur from the power socket to where the phone socket is.
But then I know about electrics and the safety implications of any installation. Not everyone may feel the same.

If done properly you should not suffer from any speed reductions, what is your speed by the way?
Remember when wiring in the extension only wire to pins 2 and 5, the bell wire pin 3 is not needed and will cause speed problems.
Handy article here.

easier to extend the phone socket so nearer the power supply, whilst not ideal its got to be easier than a plug spur!0

Sorry not up on the lingo but I think I connect at around 18802 and when testing with a broadband speed test I get average speeds of 14mb.0 -
O yes, I remember your other thread. I suggest you arm yourself with an extension socket, telephone cable and trusty Krone tool and check it out before you hard wire everything in place. I'd use a prefiltered socket then you can do away with your dangly microfilter.
