windows 8, talktalk

Options
Morning all,
Just got a new laptop, it runs Windows 8, I am with TalkTalk, when I looked at the internet CD cover it tells me it needs Windows 2000, XP OR Vista as an OS, but I thought I would try anyway, I tried CD but it doesn't want to know, when connected with Ethernet cable connection is fine.
What's the simple cure?

I used it on old laptop to install TT Internet, so it told me.
On new laptop ,my TT wireless connection is seen but I cant connect as it wont accept or I have the wrong password, mind you I had CD five years ago.

You should not need the CD. Have a look on the bottom of your router the passwork may well be there. Then open the network ( right click on the signal bars ) and sharing centre, find the SSID of your wifi and enter the password. Remember they are case sensitive.

  • Password and user name on router are" ADMIN", do I key that in as is written or what?

No, although you can use them to log into your router to discover the wireless password. You'll need to look up the IP adress for your router of course first.

Any joy OP? I've spent half the day refreshing my Windows 8 PC after it got progressively unresponsive. Hopefully you'll get on better than I did. Worst £15 spend ever!!

I have never used any ISP setup disc. They just install loads of junk.

When you run windows and search for a network choose yours and type the password in.

If you need to alter the settings, Which is unlikely. Unless the wireless is
    not switched on.

192.168.1.254 for O2 and speedtouch routers. etc

Above link says 192.168.1.1 for TT.
