No Buying Unnecessary Toiletries in December

Thank you for the warm welcome
Had a stock take this morning and my goodness, I'm a mere novice compared to the lists on here! Following the tips on the first post I've made some adjustments like adding small samples of bath bubbles to a half empty hand wash container, putting the shower gel sachets in one dispenser, filling a little basket with sachets of various toiletries and keeping it on the bathroom shelf rather than in a drawer where I forget about them. There's still far too much but it's certainly tidied up the jumble in the drawer they were kept in.
I have a plastic bag full of little soaps which are getting a bit knocked about and scruffy, not really presentable enough to gift. I can't use them as soap dries my skin too much so would appreciate any suggestions of what I could do with them, other than filling the bin? It would seem cheeky to offer them to the cs, and I doubt they'd be able to sell them anyway. Gloop, perhaps? It's rinsed out in the machine so might not be drying to skin?0 -
well first UU of December!
Sephora Make up remover - my HG. onto my HUGE Bioderma bottle now, hoping it lives up to the hype!
got quite a few things that are nearly finished with so hopefully will be on a roll soon. i'm doing my mum a beauty box for xmas so will have some GA from that.
have an IN, sample of Miss Dior perfume. got it with one of the sets i wanted for xmas with the mascara in with a free mini 5 couleurs palette, got 10% off it so got it now to put away. will count them on the 25 th thou! my mums also bought one when she saw mine :rotfl:0 -
First UU of the month - an OPI start to finish base and top coat. I had two on the go and both were under half full so I poured one into the other.
WNBA - it comes out too thick and takes too long to dry, am using a separate top and base coat from Seche which seems better, will UA the OPI as a clear polish for my finger nails (I rarely put colour on them as it's too high maintenance but I usually have coloured toe nails).
By the way, does anyone had a good idea for getting stuck lids off nailpolish bottles? I have another start to finish and the bottle top is jammed on, suspect with dried nail polish. I've tried using nail polish remover round the cap to loosen it but its just not budging.0 -

I am so glad that you've landed here too, Sparrer.
That's exactly what I did with my battered mini soaps, I used them for Laundry Gloop Worked perfectly.
I don't have sensitive skin but gloop has many recommendations from those who do. I prefer the idea of gloop to powder for old mini soaps, being very hard they probably wouldn't dissolve as well in powder form.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... When that has happened with tubes of glue I've used pliers to twist the cap, whilst holding the tube securely in a cloth.
I had a quick Google, other suggestions were turning the np bottle upside down in a small container of np remover and leaving it to soak, or using hot water around the top.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I've also been known to pick off any crusty nail polish with a butter knife (with other hand holding bottle securely wrapped in a thick towel of course) or you could try a compress of cotton wool soaked in nail polish remover pressed in around the bottle top?0 -

I have read something about using a rubber band...i'm sure a quick google search would yield more information!
I buy all my toiletries from boots. My skincare is Avene and yes it does cost a little bit more than usual brands but a bottle of cleanser lasts me 6 months easily! Definitely going to give it a go and will keep you updated next year as to how I get on!Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170 -

As you're an Avene fan,can I ask which moisturiser you use? I'm using the calming cream at the moment and really love it, definitely want to use these products more in future.0 -
Oopsie, I have an IN! I went to grab a few bits from L!dl and they had a litre(!) size of that lime shower gel I like for £1.29 so I bought it. I think I am in snowed-in mode and stocking up for the winter...but at that price I couldn't resist and it's good for everyday.
I have lovely LE shower gel to use up but don't feel right using it as an everyday shower gel, I save it for the weekends and 'special occasions'. Does anyone else do this?Decluttering 2015: 2162/20150 -

I had a weird idea last night; I have almost £100 on my Advantage card, and next year I want to try and see if I can just use this to buy all my toiletries... Am I just being ridiculous? I think I'm certainly going to give it a go. Just need to get a replacement for my day cream this weekend and I should be set for a while!
Sounds like a great plan. I usually save my AC points for a GWP but I like the idea of this. In all seriousness though my stash should keep me going for at least the next 12 months...emslovesmickey wrote: »I'll join again - hoping i will actually go a month without buying something unnecessary. At least i know i won't be buying the S and G box this year!!!
Me too - whittling down my S&G stash seems to be never ending...I was thinking this too Catriona until I totted up my totals for November and it made me realise that I haven't bought myself anything nice for ages! The Elemis TSV is calling me I'm afraid. x
Stay strong VALM or is it already too late? I am not doing it and have put £5 in my new SPC instead. What's that squeaking? Oh, just the sound of me polishing my halo - LOL!0
