thanks for starting new thread kiplingmonkey. Last month was pretty good for me and I'm aiming to not spend anything as I need money for gifts and our weekend away next week.Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

Hiya ladies! I completely had a hard time managing my personal life last month (and stash) and basically couldn't keep up. Today is the first day that I had off in 3 weeks during my transition, so I plan on cleaning the house, stash, and catching up on forums.
Missed you all!
I'm in of course for December. I'm finding it really hard not to hoard samples and products from my new job (even though they are free for me). I just hope that I can curb my spending habit.
Has everyone finished xmas shopping? I have 2 more things to buy and I'm done for this xmas. I am being frugal this year as I need to start focusing on grown up things now such as getting a new place to live, getting a car, etc. etc. lol!
When I get more time, I will record my INS and UU's properly to start off December on the right foot. xNo Buying Unnecessary Toiletries Challenge
TOTAL UU's in 2012: 588
Total UU's in 2013: 210

Thanks for starting the new thread KiplingMonkey.
I am going to be aiming for a no spend at all month - I bought things I really didn't need last month and it's crazy as I have so much better things to spend my money on. About the only thing I could really run out of next year is toothpaste, mouthwash and toothbrush heads and I'm sorted for all of those at the moment.
I have to make some savings as next year at work our pension scheme terms are improving so the company matches our contributions to double the current amount, and I've signed up to double my contributions the maximum matched contribution.
I also have to remortgage my house, the initial 2 year discount period will run out early next year and I'm not keen to pay the SVR. When I do so, I'd like to think about shortening the term a little - at the moment it's due to pay off when I am 63 and I'd like to retire by then or at least work less.
Anyway, I have one UU which I didn't get round to posting yesterday - a Korres Cedar showergel which I use when wearing my Serge Lutens Feminity du Bois perfume. I love the shower gel (and the perfume come to that), but I have some fragrance free shower gel I can use instead to avoid perfume clashes.
I have a rare weekend that isn't bulging with plans (long overdue, so needed a lie in today, must have slept at least 10 hours) so my plan is to write up a stash list to scare myself into good behaviour.
Will also be GA some of my purchases as Christmas gifts later in the month - some were bought with that in mind but some gift sets I bought thinking travel toiletries (I have been travelling a lot) forgetting the big stash I had already....0 -
I'm in again (and think I will be for all of next year and beyond as well!) I bought 2 tubes of Clean and Clear moisturiser yesterday. Someone on here (can't remember who off the top of my head) recommended it for spotty breakouts. Clean and Clear is on offer at 2 for £5 and I intended to get the moisturiser and the wipes. Unfortunately they didn't have the wipes and there was nothing left in the range that I thought would suit my skin so I ended up with 2 moisturisers. I could have just bought one as it wasn't a BOGOF but it was about £3.50 for one so I've 'saved' around £2. If it doesn't suit my skin I will be regretting it though!
I've still got a few things to take in for the hamper collection in work and can't think of anything I actually need to buy so will try to have a purchase free month. I'm not very good at keeping track of my ins and outs so will try to start adding them to my signature.3 stone down, 3 more to go0 -

Finished? I've barely started  My son has emailed me his list and I've got some of the items and will probably order the rest online this weekend. I haven't got any for anyone else yet though, unless I unearth anything suitable from my stash. My niece and nephews all have partners now and I don't know whether to buy for them or not.3 stone down, 3 more to go0 -
Welcome Sparrer! And welcome back Rachel84. This is a lovely thread, supportive and friendly. Plenty of good reviews too.
Thanks for starting us off, Kipling.
I'm at an odd stage of the challenge, with my income dropping this year,I haven't spent much at all in recent months, but everything is so long haul. Not many UUs in sight.
So buying a jumbo size of something maybe wasn't a good idea.. Ahem
An IN I "forgot"to confess to.
A Cranberry and Cinnamon 400 ml shower gel from Av*n.
I bought my DD & DGD one, sniffed, sighed and succumbed when I saw it in the brochure on offer again.
I gave my DD hers yesterday rather than keeping it until Christmas. I love Christmassy smells and thought they would like to use it in the run up to Christmas, rather than in the weeks after.
I also saw how much shower gel the family have, as they have a new bathroom display rack. Ah. It must all have been hidden in cupboards before.
I had put aside 2 more shower gels as stocking fillers for DD and DGD (DGS got one for his birthday last month). Others may now benefit.
I am fairly frugal with shower gel, (I use a body puff) so that 400ml Av*n Christmassy one will probably be still on the go next Christmas - I like to be seasonal with my fragrances.
Very :money: at least.
PS. Well done those meeting the more outs than ins last month. (Yay, Val!) At this time of year it's so tempting to lift ourselves through the gloomy days with treats. Be strong!Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Thanks for starting off the new thread Kiplingmonkey!
I had a weird idea last night; I have almost £100 on my Advantage card, and next year I want to try and see if I can just use this to buy all my toiletries... Am I just being ridiculous? I think I'm certainly going to give it a go. Just need to get a replacement for my day cream this weekend and I should be set for a while!Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170 -
