OP, you asked for some advice, and your question was 'can they make me' work Saturdays on this new arrangement. You've had a number of people telling you the same thing and explaining, patiently, why your view on it won't work in law.
Yet you're only thanking SarEl and no-one else, and you say her answer has only helped you "a little" when I think quite frankly it's helped you a huge amount (given that you've got your answer, and have had this corroborated by more than one person, and an employment barrister).
Some of us (myself included) offered kind explanations on why things are the way they are, and suggesting you could go back to your employer to negotiate non-Saturday working; you haven't even thanked those posts, and ignored them.
And now you don't really like the answers you don't want people to comment any more? You may find that if you come back with more questions in the future some people may be less inclined to help you.' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".0 -

No they can't make you work on Saturdays. You can quit.0

SarEI is not guaranteed to be always right in employment law, but the day she's wrong is the day you can expect to win the lottery three times in a row.
Ooo, really? Could someone let me know when SarEl is wrong please? I could do with winning the lottery three times in a row:rotfl::rotfl:.

Well that's more interesting than what I was thinking. Judging from post number 44 Benc30 and her wife both have had children and maternity leave last year/this year so perhaps the wife is now back at work and already working weekends and they have no-one to step in to look after the children if BenC30 took the new contract her employer offered.
(I've probably just completely misinterpreted post number 44 and BenC30 is simply a username shared by husband and wife in which case I'm very sorry.)0 -
It is pretty irrelevant now. I asked the OP staright out what prevents them from working Saturdays. They chose not to answer, so the only logical explanation for this is that they do not want to work Saturdays. As I stated previously, most people have sussed out that employers do not create jobs to fit in with employees social engagements.
And I agree with Kiki - loads of people have given accurate and very clear advice on this thread, and the OP clearly has something of a strop on with not getting what they want which they are taking out on the people here.0
