no, it's £7275 on part ex.

the dealer would put in on the forecourt for just under 9k. he's not buyer it from me, he was just listing it for me.

    sorry if you got confused.

Actually, you're just a Troll arent you?
  • It's called diminution (not 100% on spelling though!) my 2 week old Toyota iQ was reversed into by an HGV, paint match (white pearl) was not perfect (even after 2 attempts at a Toyota main dealer owned body shop) RAC did a post accident inspection as did an engineer from my insurance co.

It was agreed that £1000 was a fair sum for loss of value. This was echoed by an unrelated dealer's estimates (based on non repaired and repaired) and yes I was asked if it had been accident repaired.

Well Kate, judging by your screen name - "lil.smartie", if you accepted an accident repair from a main dealer repairer which was not perfect and had not been guaranteed, then that was not smart at all.
Your almost new car should have been perfect, no excuses, because that is something which is well within the capabilities of a competent body repair/sprayshop.

Nothing has been lost. You never had 9k to begin with and you don't have 6k now.

You have exactly the same car in exactly the same condition. Thank God for insurance!

  • I didn't accept it ... I only stated the part of the ongoing (2 1/2yrs & still not complete!) legal battle that was relevant to this post!

With respect, your car came back with a substandard paint job which is totally unacceptable from a main dealer, and by the sounds of it stands out a mile if you look at the car.

The difference here is that there is no indication from the O/P that the repair is substandard - he has been led to believe that the car is worth £3,000 less simply because it has had a repair.

Thats very different to your scenario.
  • It didn't sell at 9k though did it?

Also a main dealer will have to offer warranty etc. These costs will no doubt be passed to you as the seller.

    What about PX and finance?

If I saw a used car at a mian dealer I'd want £500 off the sticker price, then there's the 5% selling fee, warranty costs etc

    \it was never 9k

    Interesting video, thanks.

When he's pulled various sections out, I noticed he hammers the areas affected - it's that to check robustness of the metal there, or to de-stress it or something?

they knock it in a bit so that that part of the frame doesnt fold back in again due to other weight on that part. bit like propping up a fence post with poles when youve just set the support posts in concrete and lined it all up straight plus knocking the buldges back in straight, youll notice those arent normal sledge hammers, they have a completely flat head like a panel hammer. in those area's the metal is really tough hitting with a normal hammer will do nothing.

plus he's basically putting the kinks back straight when its alined on seams.

on most of that repair, the crippled parts around the light cage and light cage itself will be replaced its all useless as metal for repair so he lining all up so whne he chops those bits out the new bits will sit in where they are supposed to go and weld back on eaily.

It would help if the OP actually added some clarification and posted the details of the car in question but he seems reluctant to do so, for soem reason. ;)

You would have to bring a claim against the other driver for your uninsured losses, however if you have accepted an offer conditional on "final settlement" from the other parties insurers, you may have contractually compromised your position.

Start reading all the letters they sent you.
    Be happy...;)
