wonga.best way to proceed

Hi All.
can anyone advise me of the best way to act it.
I have got myself in trouble with a wonga payday loan.
i now cant get myself straight and im not sure what to do,i seem to be having less and less to live on.
i originally took a small loan out from them and every month it seemed to get bigger and bigger..this was not through greed, but a couple of problems i had,
this morning ive had to borrow 470 which will end up as around 520 odd to pay back on payday the 10th of december..
i am unable to borrow this amount to pay them back..i cant get an overdraft[due to old dmp thats paid off but leaving me in a bad way credit wises]
i only ever borrow for 11 days and have never used the pay a month later facility but i seem to be using it like its an overdraft as it the end of the month i need to pay the rent again.
Ive tried spending less to lower the loan but its not working....it all goes on essentials..i cant see my way out of this,

do i open a new account..i tried online for a santandar account and it said they will email details to me ,so i dont know if ive got it or not..if i manage to open a new account can i contact wonga to ask if they can work it into a 5 month plan to pay it off and freeze the interest..im scared to switch it in case wonga get any of my details or anything so im going to have to manually set up dds again..
im also concerned if work can change my bank account details in time as i usually borrow at the end of the month around the 27 /28 then pay wonga back on the 10th..so it only gives 11 days..so do i have to borrow for longer to give work time to correct new bank account for my wages[but then adding more on to the debt]..i remember years ago when i changed my account at work it took them a month for it to go into the correct account..or do i just close my co op account as soon as new bank account is open and then they have to do it in time..

or do i roll over the loan for a month to give them time to do it..
i am concerned that is santandar wont give me a current account wheres the best bank to go to..i just want a basic with a debit card and no overdraft..then pay wonga off and be done with it..
cant beleive ive done this to myself yet again.
thanks all..

I would try to get a co op cashminder account - edit - seen you are with co-op! Barclays also have a good basic account and get your wages transfered to there, it may mean talking to your wages department fast to get paid by cheque this time though so nothing goes in that account, or you could go to your bank and in writing (take a copy to get stamped so you have a record of them receiving it) cancel the continuous payment agreement with Wonga which should hopefully stop them taking funds. After that you need to stay strong, not talk to them on the phone and in writing make an agreement to repay the loan at an amount you can afford without needing to take out another one, make sure you pay by standing order or fastpay NOT by debit card or direct debit, they will argue about that but stick to your guns and don't give them a chance to raid your account later. May also be worth posting in the debt free forum to see if they can help you budget better so that youi have a little bit of savings for emergencies instead of needing loans. Good luck with it

Set up a payment plan with them but you might have to default first.

What was the reason for the loan ?

How many times have we seen this thread?

Ring them and explain what has happened, be firm but fair, offer them as much as you can afford a month that won't leave you short on rent and utilities (even offer a bit more and don't spend the cash on needless items)

They should accept a repayment plan, tell them its the only way they will get their money without having to hound you all the time. Offer xx amount over xx amount of months.

  • I found myself in some difficulty with payday loans @wonga. Anyway i called them up and offered £100 a month for 4 months and they said ok no problem. Just about to take the last payment and that will be that.

I dont suppose they would be happy to deal with me again but thats fine with me. Really is too easy to use these sharks. I for one will just be watching what i spend in future and avoid them like the plague!!

OP ring them and tell them you cant pay as it will leave you in hardhship. ask for an affordable payment plan.
  • I am not judging I was in the same boat as you OP and Tia also, I had a job and had borrowed to payday a few times but one day the company lost its employment contracts so I rang Wonga and paid £50 that day then on the day of my payment date they put it into a repayment plan of £30 a month until I paid it all off, just explain its all you can afford. Hope it works out and try to stay away from them in future.

ring them or email them @ collections@wonga.com or balanceoffer@wonga.com

Be sure to sya their has been a change in your financial cirumstances.

Ask for a sort code and account number and a reference number so you can manually make the payments each month.
Promo codes are never always cheaper..... isnt that right EuropCar?

A change in financial circumstances since this morning, which is when the loan was taken out and the promise to repay was made?:

Although I do appreciate this is a problem that has been building up for a while.

But it's a new loan and the virtual ink on the virtual contract is still virtually wet.

Do it on the 9th and 10th then.
